Random-Field Instability of the Ordered State of Continuous Symmetry

TLDR
In this article, it was shown that when the order parameter has a continuous symmetry, the ordered state is unstable against an arbitrarily weak random field in less than four dimensions and the borderline dimensionality above which mean-field-theory results hold is six.Abstract:
Phase transitions are considered in systems where the field conjugate to the order parameter is static and random. It is demonstrated that when the order parameter has a continuous symmetry, the ordered state is unstable against an arbitrarily weak random field in less than four dimensions. The borderline dimensionality above which mean-field-theory results hold is six. (auth)read more

Random-field Ising and $O(N)$ models: Theoretical description through the functional renormalization group
Gilles Tarjus,Matthieu Tissier +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a theoretical analysis of the random field Ising and O(N) model is presented, including the critical exponent characterizing the activated dynamic scaling, and the critical scaling described by 2 or 3 independent exponents.

Dipolar interaction in random-field systems
TL;DR: In this paper, the dipolar interaction breaks the universality of the low-temperature and critical behavior between the random-field Ising model (RFIM) and the diluted antiferromagnet in an external field (DAFF).

Random field distributed Heisenberg model on a thin film geometry
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of the bimodal random field distribution on the thermal and magnetic properties of the Heisenberg thin film have been investigated by making use of a two spin cluster with the decoupling approximation.

Scaling and self-averaging in the three-dimensional random-field Ising model
TL;DR: In this article, the magnetic critical behavior of the three-dimensional bimodal random field Ising model at the strong disorder regime was investigated by means of extensive Monte Carlo simulations.

Degradation of Phonons in Disordered Moiré Superlattices
TL;DR: In this paper , it was shown that disorder in the relative orientation between the layers and thermal fluctuations associated with their sliding motion degrade the propagation of sound in the moiré superlattice.
