Random-Field Instability of the Ordered State of Continuous Symmetry

TLDR
In this article, it was shown that when the order parameter has a continuous symmetry, the ordered state is unstable against an arbitrarily weak random field in less than four dimensions and the borderline dimensionality above which mean-field-theory results hold is six.Abstract:
Phase transitions are considered in systems where the field conjugate to the order parameter is static and random. It is demonstrated that when the order parameter has a continuous symmetry, the ordered state is unstable against an arbitrarily weak random field in less than four dimensions. The borderline dimensionality above which mean-field-theory results hold is six. (auth)read more

Correlation length of two-dimensional random field Ising model via greedy lattice animal
Jian Ding,Mateo Wirth +1 more
TL;DR: The correlation length is studied, which is the critical size of a box at which the influences of the random field and of the boundary condition on the spin magnetization are comparable, and it is shown that at zero temperature the correlation length scales as e-4/3+o(1)$.

Effect of Quenched Disorder on Charge–Orbital–Spin Ordering in Single-Layer Manganites
Masaya Uchida,Roland Mathieu,Jinping He,Yoshio Kaneko,Atsushi Asamitsu,Reiji Kumai,Yasuhide Tomioka,Yoshio Matsui,Yoshinori Tokura,Yoshinori Tokura +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the structural and magnetic properties of half-doped single-layer manganites were investigated and a new electronic phase diagram was established with quenched disorder as the control parameter.

Exponential Decay of Correlations in the 2D Random Field Ising Model
TL;DR: In this article, an extension of the Ising spin configurations to continuous functions is used for an exact representation of the random field Ising model's order parameter in terms of disagreement percolation.

3D planar magnet with random anisotropy
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the low-temperature phase of the 3D random-anisotropy planar magnet is of the spin glass type, characterised by the finite correlation length and finite spin stiffness which coincides with that of the ferromagnetic phase of pure magnet.

Effects of random quenched impurities on layering transitions : A Monte Carlo study
TL;DR: In this article, a Monte Carlo simulation method is used to investigate effects of surface heterogeneity on layering transitions occurring in multilayer films, and it is demonstrated that in some cases even very low concentrations of impurities can produce qualitative changes in the film behavior.
