Random-Field Instability of the Ordered State of Continuous Symmetry
Yoseph Imry,Shang-keng Ma +1 more
TLDR
In this article, it was shown that when the order parameter has a continuous symmetry, the ordered state is unstable against an arbitrarily weak random field in less than four dimensions and the borderline dimensionality above which mean-field-theory results hold is six.Abstract:
Phase transitions are considered in systems where the field conjugate to the order parameter is static and random. It is demonstrated that when the order parameter has a continuous symmetry, the ordered state is unstable against an arbitrarily weak random field in less than four dimensions. The borderline dimensionality above which mean-field-theory results hold is six. (auth)read more

Dimensional reduction breakdown and correction to scaling in the random-field Ising model.
TL;DR: The NP-FRG results are in very good agreement with recent large-scale lattice simulations of the RFIM in d=5 and the consequences for the leading correction-to-scaling exponent of the peculiar boundary-layer mechanism by which thedimensional-reduction fixed point disappears and the dimensional-red reduction-broken fixed point emerges in d_{DR}.

Quantum Hall valley nematics
TL;DR: In this article, the formation of a topologically insulating quantum Hall state is accompanied by the spontaneous breaking of a point-group symmetry that combines a spatial rotation with a permutation of valley indices.

Phase diagram of a planar XY model with random field
Alex Arenas,C. J. Pérez Vicente +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied a planar XY model in the presence of a random field and analyzed the dynamics of the system through a Fokker-Planck formalism, focussing their attention in the long time behaviour.

Study of the first-order phase transition in the classical and quantum random field Heisenberg model on a simple cubic lattice
TL;DR: In this paper, the phase diagram of the Heisenberg ferromagnetic model in the presence of a magnetic random field (we have used bimodal distribution) of spin S = 1 / 2 (quantum case) and S = ∞ (classical case) on a simple cubic lattice is studied within the framework of the effective field theory in finite cluster.

Magnetic and magnetostrictive properties in amorphous (Tb0.27Dy0.73)(Fe1-xCox)2 films
TL;DR: In this paper, an increase in the 3D magnetic moment and Curie temperatures higher than 550 K due to the enhancement of T-T interactions in substituted (Fe, Co) alloys was found.
