Random-Field Instability of the Ordered State of Continuous Symmetry

TLDR
In this article, it was shown that when the order parameter has a continuous symmetry, the ordered state is unstable against an arbitrarily weak random field in less than four dimensions and the borderline dimensionality above which mean-field-theory results hold is six.
Abstract
Phase transitions are considered in systems where the field conjugate to the order parameter is static and random. It is demonstrated that when the order parameter has a continuous symmetry, the ordered state is unstable against an arbitrarily weak random field in less than four dimensions. The borderline dimensionality above which mean-field-theory results hold is six. (auth)

Renewal sequences, disordered potentials, and pinning phenomena

TL;DR: In this article, the authors give an overview of the state of the art of the analysis of disordered models of pinning on a defect line, including a number of well-known and much studied systems, such as polymer pinning, wetting of interfaces on a disordered substrate and DNA denaturation.

Chaotic Quantization of Classical Gauge Fields

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the quantized non-Abelian gauge theory can be obtained as the infrared limit of the corresponding classical gauge theory in a higher dimension.

Random field Ising model : statistical properties of low-energy excitations and of equilibrium avalanches

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the statistics of low-energy excitations generated by an imposed single spin-flip with respect to the ground state, as well as the statistic of equilibrium avalanches, i.e. the magnetization jumps that occur in the sequence of ground states as a function of the external magnetic field.

Multiple Charge Density Waves and Superconductivity Nucleation at Antiphase Domain Walls in the Nematic Pnictide Ba 1 − x Sr x Ni 2 As 2

TL;DR: In this article, a new charge density wave (CDW) was discovered in a charge ordered pnictide superconductor (BSNA), which was shown to exhibit a sixfold enhancement of superconductivity due to nematic fluctuations near a quantum phase transition.

Statistical mechanics of coupled supercooled liquids in finite dimensions

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the statistical mechanics of supercooled liquids when the system evolves at a temperature $T$ with a linear coupling of amplitude $\epsilon$ to its overlap with a reference configuration of the same liquid sampled at a higher temperature.
