Random-Field Instability of the Ordered State of Continuous Symmetry

TLDR
In this article, it was shown that when the order parameter has a continuous symmetry, the ordered state is unstable against an arbitrarily weak random field in less than four dimensions and the borderline dimensionality above which mean-field-theory results hold is six.
Abstract
Phase transitions are considered in systems where the field conjugate to the order parameter is static and random. It is demonstrated that when the order parameter has a continuous symmetry, the ordered state is unstable against an arbitrarily weak random field in less than four dimensions. The borderline dimensionality above which mean-field-theory results hold is six. (auth)

Random-field model for ferroelectric domain dynamics and polarization reversal

TL;DR: In this paper, a new concept of polarization reversal and domain dynamics in modified ferroelectrics is presented, where clusters with a reversed polarization within ferroelectric domains are nucleated under applied field in the vicinity of random fields around quenched defects.

Valence Bonds in Random Quantum Magnets: Theory and Application to YbMgGaO 4

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of quenched disorder on spin-1/2 quantum magnets was analyzed and a theory for 2D valence-bond solids subject to weak bond randomness, as well as extensions to stronger disorder regimes where we make connections with quantum spin liquids was proposed.

The nonperturbative functional renormalization group and its applications

TL;DR: The nonperturbative functional renormalization-group (FRG) approach as discussed by the authors is a modern implementation of Wilson's RG, which allows one to set up nonperturative approximation schemes that go beyond the standard perturbative RG approaches.

Development of ferroelectric order in relaxor (1-x)Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3–xPbTiO3 (0≤x≤0.15)

TL;DR: In this paper, the phase symmetry and phase transition in relaxor ferroelectric Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3 (PMN-xPT) ceramics were investigated by means of high-resolution synchrotron x-ray diffraction.

Order and disorder in the relaxor ferroelectric perovskite (PSN): comparison with simple perovskites and

TL;DR: A structural evolution analysis of the long-range and local order and disorder of lead scandium niobate (PSN) down to 10 K, using a combination of neutron and x-ray diffraction on powder and single crystals, is reported in this paper.
