Journal ArticleDOI
Reversed-phase liquid chromatography system constant database over an extended mobile phase composition range for 25 siloxane-bonded silica-based columns.
TL;DR: It is shown that the interaction parameters employed in the hydrophobic-subtraction model have little overlap with those of the solvation parameter model and a quantitative comparison of column properties delineated by both models is not possible.
Journal ArticleDOI
Immobilized Artificial Membrane HPLC Derived Parameters vs PAMPA-BBB Data in Estimating in Situ Measured Blood–Brain Barrier Permeation of Drugs
TL;DR: The present work was aimed at verifying the soundness of Δlog kW(IAM) at describing the potential of passage through the BBB as compared to data achieved by the PAMPA-BBB technique, and suggesting that, at least for the data set considered, Δ log kW( IAM) parameters are more effective than log P0(PAMPA -BBB) at predicting log P 0(in situ) values for all the analytes.

Oxygenated aromatic compounds from renewable resources: motivation, opportunities, and adsorptive separations
Heather D. Embree,Heather D. Embree,Tianhong Chen,Tianhong Chen,Gregory F. Payne,Gregory F. Payne +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the hydrogen-bonding interactions can be exploited for separating chemicals from renewable resources, focusing on oxygenated aromatic compounds (OACs) that are abundant in biomass-based feedstocks.

Abraham Model Correlations for Transfer of Neutral Molecules and Ions to Sulfolane
Timothy W. Stephens,Nohelli E. De La Rosa,Mariam Saifullah,Shulin Ye,Vicky Chou,Amanda N. Quay,William E. Acree,Michael H. Abraham +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, Abraham model correlations for the transfer of neutral molecules and ions to sulfolane were investigated and the results showed that the Abraham model correlated well with the transfer rate.

The use of characteristic volumes to measure cavity terms in reversed phase liquid chromatography
Michael H. Abraham,J. C. McGowan +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that the use of the McGowans characteristic volume, Vx, is equivalent to using Leahy's computer-calculated intrinsic volumes, V1, for the cavity term mV/100, for 209 gaseous, liquid, and solid solutes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Do general anaesthetics act by competitive binding to specific receptors
Nicholas P. Franks,W. R. Lieb +1 more
TL;DR: It is shown that, over a 100,000-fold range of potencies, the activity of a pure soluble protein can be inhibited by 50% at anaesthetic concentrations which are essentially identical to those which anaesthetize animals.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hydrogen bonding: XVI. A new solute salvation parameter, π2H, from gas chromatographic data
TL;DR: In this article, the general salvation equation, log VG0 (or log L) was used to set up a new π2H parameter of solute dipolarity-polarisability, mainly through the extensive data of McReynolds and Patte et al.
