TLDR
In this paper, the acquisition and use of digital images in a wide variety of scientific fields is discussed. But the focus is on high dynamic range imaging in more than two dimensions.
Abstract
"This guide clearly explains the acquisition and use of digital images in a wide variety of scientific fields. This sixth edition features new sections on selecting a camera with resolution appropriate for use on light microscopes, on the ability of current cameras to capture raw images with high dynamic range, and on imaging in more than two dimensions. It discusses Dmax for X-ray images and combining images with different exposure settings to further extend the dynamic range. This edition also includes a new chapter on shape measurements, a review of new developments in image file searching, and a wide range of new examples and diagrams"

Some properties of irregular 3-D particles

TL;DR: In this article, the properties of irregular particles, including volume, density and surface area, were discussed for better understanding of particulates, suggesting more efficient ways to utilize particulate materials and allowing the creation of mathematical models that can reduce the need for lengthy real-world testing.
Journal ArticleDOI

Machine vision system for food grain quality evaluation: A review

TL;DR: An up-to-date review on the major applications of machine vision systems for grain quality evaluation applications in non-touching arrangement, highlighting system components, image processing and image analysis techniques, advantages and limitations ofMachine vision systems.
Journal ArticleDOI

Quantitative Analysis of Flow Processes in a Sand Using Synchrotron-Based X-ray Microtomography

TL;DR: In this paper, a pore-scale multiphase flow experiment using X-ray microtomography is presented, showing that the dynamic effects seen in previous experiments are likely due to the fast and preferential drainage of large pores in the sample.
Book ChapterDOI

Confocal laser scanning microscopy for analysis of microbial biofilms.

TL;DR: This chapter aims to provide a primer for CLSM observation of biofilm materials, which offers the only means for real-time, in-depth analysis of undisturbed biofilms.

Image Contrast Enhancement by Constrained Local Histogram Equalization

TL;DR: A constrained local histogram equalization method is proposed to balance the conflicting requirements: enhancement of the image details and the maintenance of the overall image appearance.
