The Paxon parliament's protocol provides a new way of implementing the state machine approach to the design of distributed systems.
Abstract
Recent archaeological discoveries on the island of Paxos reveal that the parliament functioned despite the peripatetic propensity of its part-time legislators. The legislators maintained consistent copies of the parliamentary record, despite their frequent forays from the chamber and the forgetfulness of their messengers. The Paxon parliament's protocol provides a new way of implementing the state machine approach to the design of distributed systems.

Multi-Ring Paxos

TL;DR: This paper claims that existing group communication protocols do not scale in this respect and introduces Multi-Ring Paxos, a protocol that orchestrates multiple instances of Ring Paxos in order to scale to a large number of nodes.

Lithium: virtual machine storage for the cloud

TL;DR: Lithium, a distributed storage system designed specifically for virtualization workloads running in large-scale data centers and clouds, finds that seemingly expensive techniques such as versioned storage and incremental hashing can lead to a system that is not only more robust to data corruption and host failures, but also often faster than naïve approaches.

Privacy Ensured ${e}$ -Healthcare for Fog-Enhanced IoT Based Applications

TL;DR: The present work is about an e-healthcare framework dealing with electronic medical records (EMRs) which preserves the privacy issues and is efficient in providing privacy along with standard network parameters.

CoC: A Unified Distributed Ledger Based Supply Chain Management System

TL;DR: Coch (supply chain on blockchain), a novel supply chain management system based on a hybrid decentralized ledger with a novel two-step block construction mechanism is proposed, which also design an efficient storage scheme and information protection method that satisfy requirements of supply network management.

Blockchain Transaction Processing.

TL;DR: A blockchain is a linked-list of immutable tamper-proof blocks, which is stored at each participating node, which records a set of transactions and the associated metadata.

Time, clocks, and the ordering of events in a distributed system

TL;DR: In this paper, the concept of one event happening before another in a distributed system is examined, and a distributed algorithm is given for synchronizing a system of logical clocks which can be used to totally order the events.

Concurrency Control and Recovery in Database Systems

TL;DR: In this article, the design and implementation of concurrency control and recovery mechanisms for transaction management in centralized and distributed database systems is described. But this can lead to interference between queries and updates.

Implementing fault-tolerant services using the state machine approach: a tutorial

TL;DR: The state machine approach is a general method for implementing fault-tolerant services in distributed systems and protocols for two different failure models—Byzantine and fail stop are described.
