Global review and synthesis of trends in observed terrestrial near-surface wind speeds; implications for evaporation
Tim R. McVicar,Michael L. Roderick,Randall J. Donohue,Ling Tao Li,Tom Van Niel,Axel Thomas,Jürgen Grieser,Deepak Jhajharia,Y. Himri,Natalie M. Mahowald,Anna V. Mescherskaya,Andries Kruger,Shafiqur Rehman,Yagob Dinpashoh +13 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a review of the literature to assess whether stilling is a globally widespread phenomenon and highlight the contribution of the aerodynamic and radiative components to these declining evaporation rates.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of SVM, ELM and four tree-based ensemble models for predicting daily reference evapotranspiration using limited meteorological data in different climates of China
Junliang Fan,Wenjun Yue,Lifeng Wu,Lifeng Wu,Fucang Zhang,Huanjie Cai,Xiukang Wang,Xianghui Lu,Youzhen Xiang +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated the potential of tree-based assemble algorithms (i.e., random forest, M5 model tree, gradient boosting decision tree and extreme gradient boosting) for estimating daily evapotranspiration (ET0) with limited meteorological data using a K-fold cross-validation method.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spatiotemporal trends and change point of precipitation in Iran
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed the spatial and temporal trends of precipitation data from 28 synoptic stations of Iran (1967-2006) and determined the approximate year of the beginning of the significant trends by using the Mann-Kendall and Mann-kendall rank statistic tests, respectively, and obtained the magnitude of precipitation trends from the Theil-Sen's slope estimator.

Trends in reference evapotranspiration in the humid region of northeast India
TL;DR: In this paper, the trends in the reference evapotranspiration (ETO) estimated through the Penman-Monteith method were investigated over the humid region of northeast (NE) India by using the Mann-Kendall (MK) test after removing the effect of significant lag-1 serial correlation from the time series of ETO by pre-whitening.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of climate change on reference evapotranspiration and aridity index in arid region of China
TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper investigated the temporal variations in reference evapotranspiration (ET0) and aridity index (AI) for 23 meteorological stations during 1955-2008 in the northwest China.

Estimates of the Regression Coefficient Based on Kendall's Tau
TL;DR: In this article, a simple and robust estimator of regression coefficient β based on Kendall's rank correlation tau is studied, where the point estimator is the median of the set of slopes (Yj - Yi )/(tj-ti ) joining pairs of points with ti ≠ ti.

Rank correlation methods
TL;DR: The measurement of rank correlation was introduced in this paper, and rank correlation tied ranks tests of significance were applied to the problem of m ranking, and variate values were used to measure rank correlation.
