Underground coal gasification: A new clean coal utilization technique for India

TLDR
In this article, the potential for UCG in India is studied by comparing the properties of Indian coals with those of coal that are utilized by various UCG trials, which will help to motivate both applied and theoretical research on UCG sites in India and after detailed analysis it will provide basic data to interested industries.

Underground coal gasification

TL;DR: Underground coal gasification (UCG) is a method whereby the mining and conversion of coal are accomplished in a single step as mentioned in this paper, and many field tests of UCG have been operated worldwide since the 1930's with varying degrees of success; a field design which is applicable to a wide range of geological conditions and coal properties has evolved.

Public perceptions of underground coal gasification in the United Kingdom

TL;DR: In this article, the authors explored the public perceptions of underground coal gasification (UCG) in the UK through a detailed case-study and focus group discussion, and recommended that an open, transparent and consultative process of decision-making and operation should be adopted by the developer, operator and regulator.
