TL;DR: A global genetic interaction network highlights the functional organization of a cell and provides a resource for predicting gene and pathway function and how coherent sets of negative or positive genetic interactions connect protein complex and pathways to map a functional wiring diagram of the cell.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Cell Cycle-Dependent Regulatory Circuit Composed of 53BP1-RIF1 and BRCA1-CtIP Controls DNA Repair Pathway Choice
Cristina Escribano-Diaz,Alexandre Orthwein,Amélie Fradet-Turcotte,Mengtan Xing,Jordan T.F. Young,Jordan T.F. Young,Jan Tkac,Jan Tkac,Michael A Cook,Michael A Cook,Adam P. Rosebrock,Meagan Munro,Marella D. Canny,Dongyi Xu,Daniel Durocher,Daniel Durocher +15 more
TL;DR: This work identifies a cell cycle-regulated circuit, underpinned by RIF1 and BRCA1, that governs DSB repair pathway choice to ensure that NHEJ dominates in G1 and HR is favored from S phase onward.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Cell Cycle–Regulated Genes of Schizosaccharomyces pombe
Anna Oliva,Adam P. Rosebrock,Francisco Ferrezuelo,Saumyadipta Pyne,Haiying Chen,Steve Skiena,Bruce Futcher,Janet Leatherwood +7 more
TL;DR: Preliminary evidence is found for a nearly genome-wide oscillation in gene expression: 2,000 or more genes undergo slight oscillations in expression as a function of the cell cycle, although whether this is adaptive, or incidental to other events in the cell, such as chromatin condensation, the authors do not know.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interspecies Systems Biology Uncovers Metabolites Affecting C. elegans Gene Expression and Life History Traits
Emma Watson,Lesley T. MacNeil,Ashlyn D. Ritter,L. Safak Yilmaz,Adam P. Rosebrock,Amy A. Caudy,Albertha J.M. Walhout +6 more
TL;DR: It is found that vitamin B12 has a dual role in the animal: it affects development and fertility via the methionine/S-Adenosylmethionine cycle and breaks down the short-chain fatty acid propionic acid, preventing its toxic buildup.
Journal ArticleDOI
Daughter-specific transcription factors regulate cell size control in budding yeast.
Stefano Di Talia,Hongyin Wang,Jan M. Skotheim,Adam P. Rosebrock,Bruce Futcher,Frederick R. Cross +5 more
TL;DR: The asymmetric localization of cell fate determinants results in asymmetric cell cycle control in budding yeast.
