Alcohol Consumption and Risk of Cataract Extraction: A Prospective Cohort Study of Women

TL;DR: These prospective data suggest that daily use of >/=1 alcoholic drinks was associated with a modest increase of risk for cataract extraction, and the risk increased with increasing alcohol consumption.

Dairy products and pancreatic cancer risk: a pooled analysis of 14 cohort studies

TL;DR: In this paper, a pooled analysis of the primary data from 14 prospective cohort studies, 2212 incident pancreatic cancer cases were identified during follow-up among 862 680 individuals, adjusting for smoking habits, personal history of diabetes, alcohol intake, body mass index (BMI), and energy intake, multivariable study-specific hazard ratios and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated using the Cox proportional hazards models and then pooled using a random effects model.
Journal ArticleDOI

Smoking Cessation and the Risk of Cataract: A Prospective Cohort Study of Cataract Extraction Among Men

TL;DR: Smoking cessation seems to decrease the risk of cataract extraction with time, although the risk persists for decades, and the importance of early smoking cessation and preferably the avoidance of smoking is emphasized.
Journal ArticleDOI

Long-term dietary heme iron and red meat intake in relation to endometrial cancer risk

TL;DR: This study suggests a modest positive association between heme iron, total iron, and liver intakes and endometrial cancer risk; no statistically significant associations were observed for intakes of other red and processed meats and endometrictrial cancer risk.
Journal ArticleDOI

Alcoholic beverage consumption and gastric cancer risk: a prospective population-based study in women.

TL;DR: Investigation of the association between total alcohol (ethanol) intake as well as specific alcoholic beverages and risk of gastric cancer in the Swedish Mammography Cohort suggests constituents of beer other than alcohol may be associated with an increased risk of Gastric cancer.
