Effects of smoking and physical activity on body weight: developments in Sweden between 1980 and 1989
Alicja Wolk,S. Rössner +1 more
TL;DR: To study the effects of changes in smoking and exercise habits on body weight in Sweden, a large number of people have given up smoking and exercised less, and the proportion of those who smoke and those who exercise has increased.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chocolate intake and incidence of heart failure: Findings from the Cohort of Swedish Men
Daniel A. Steinhaus,Elizabeth Mostofsky,Emily B. Levitan,Kirsten S. Dorans,Kirsten S. Dorans,Niclas Håkansson,Alicja Wolk,Murray A. Mittleman,Murray A. Mittleman +8 more
TL;DR: In this large prospective cohort study, there was a J‐shaped relationship between chocolate consumption and HF incidence and moderate chocolate consumption was associated with a lower rate of HF hospitalization or death, but the protective association was not observed among individuals consuming ≥1 serving per day.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association between statin use and consultation or surgery for osteoarthritis of the hip or knee: a pooled analysis of four cohort studies
Karl Michaëlsson,L.S. Lohmander,Aleksandra Turkiewicz,Alicja Wolk,Peter M. Nilsson,Martin Englund,Martin Englund +6 more
TL;DR: Statin use is not associated with reduced risk of consultation or surgery for OA of the hip or knee, and there is no dose-response relation between duration of current statin use and the risk of OA.

TL;DR: The data suggest that the effect of truncating variants on breast cancer risk may depend on their position in the gene, and that cell sensitivity to olaparib exposure, identifies a possible therapeutic option to treat FANCM-associated tumors.
