Genome-wide association study identifies 32 novel breast cancer susceptibility loci from overall and subtype-specific analyses

Haoyu Zhang, +312 more
- 24 Sep 2019 -
TL;DR: A genome-wide association study including 133,384 breast cancer cases and 113,789 controls, plus 18,908 BRCA1 mutation carriers of European ancestry provides an improved understanding of genetic predisposition to breast cancer subtypes and will inform the development of subtype-specific polygenic risk scores.
Journal ArticleDOI

Long term alcohol intake and risk of rheumatoid arthritis in women: a population based cohort study

TL;DR: Analysis of long term alcohol consumption showed that women who reported drinking >3 glasses of alcohol per week in both 1987 and 1997 had a 52% decreased risk of rheumatoid arthritis compared with those who never drank.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genome-wide Modeling of Polygenic Risk Score in Colorectal Cancer Risk.

Minta Thomas, +102 more
TL;DR: Different approaches to generating predictive polygenic risk scores (PRS) from genome-wide association studies (GWASs) are derived and compared, and the developed PRS offers a way for risk-stratified CRC screening and other targeted interventions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Abdominal and total adiposity and the risk of acute pancreatitis: a population-based prospective cohort study.

TL;DR: Abdominal adiposity, but not total adiposity), is an independent risk factor for the development of acute pancreatitis.
