Yang,Shuiqing Yin,Demetrio Antonio Zema,Guangju Zhao,Panos Panagos +68 more
TL;DR: This database intends to support the upcoming country-based United Nations global soil-erosion assessment in addition to helping to inform soil erosion research priorities by building a foundation for future targeted, in-depth analyses.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spatio-temporal topsoil organic carbon mapping of a semi-arid Mediterranean region: The role of land use, soil texture, topographic indices and the influence of remote sensing data to modelling.
Calogero Schillaci,Marco Acutis,Luigi Lombardo,Aldo Lipani,Maria Fantappiè,Michael Märker,Sergio Saia +6 more
TL;DR: The results confirm that the importance of texture and land use in short-term SOC variation is comparable to climate and call for agronomic and policy intervention at the district level to maintain fertility and yield potential.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison between geostatistical and machine learning models as predictors of topsoil organic carbon with a focus on local uncertainty estimation
TL;DR: This work compares geostatistical techniques, ML methods and hybrid methods, e.g., regression kriging, in terms of not only their overall accuracy but also their precision in providing useful confidence intervals at unsampled locations to provide clear application guidelines for future mapping exercises.
Journal ArticleDOI

Yang,Shuiqing Yin,Demetrio Antonio Zema,Guangju Zhao,Panos Panagos +66 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the impact of the number of authors, the publication type and the selected journal on the citation count of soil erosion modeling research papers and found that the selection of the soil erosion model has the largest impact on the publication citations, followed by the modelling scale and the publication's CiteScore.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modelling the topsoil carbon stock of agricultural lands with the Stochastic Gradient Treeboost in a semi-arid Mediterranean region
Calogero Schillaci,Calogero Schillaci,Luigi Lombardo,Luigi Lombardo,Sergio Saia,Maria Fantappiè,Michael Märker,Michael Märker,Marco Acutis +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used Stochastic Gradient TreeBoost (SGT) to estimate the topsoil (0-30 cm) soil organic carbon (SOC) stocks of a Mediterranean semi-arid area (Sicily, Italy, 25,286 km2).
