Nicholson,Catherine Postic,Rémy Burcelin,Rémy Burcelin,Marc-Emmanuel Dumas +42 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that fecal microbiota transplants and chronic treatment with phenylacetic acid, a microbial product of aromatic amino acids metabolism, successfully trigger steatosis and branched-chain amino acid metabolism.
Journal ArticleDOI
Iron status influences non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in obesity through the gut microbiome
Jordi Mayneris-Perxachs,Jordi Mayneris-Perxachs,Marina Cardellini,Lesley Hoyles,Lesley Hoyles,Jèssica Latorre,Jèssica Latorre,Francesca Davato,José María Moreno-Navarrete,José María Moreno-Navarrete,María Arnoriaga-Rodríguez,María Arnoriaga-Rodríguez,Matteo Serino,Matteo Serino,James Abbott,Richard H. TL;DR: In this paper, the authors applied an integrative system medicine approach (faecal metagenomics, plasma and urine metabolomics, hepatic transcriptomics) in 2 well-characterised human cohorts of subjects with obesity (discovery n = 49 and validation n = 628) and an independent cohort formed by both individuals with and without obesity (n = 130), combined with in vitro and animal models.
Journal ArticleDOI
The evolution of standards and data management practices in systems biology
Natalie J. Stanford,Katherine Wolstencroft,Martin Golebiewski,Renate Kania,Nick Juty,Christopher Tomlinson,Stuart Owen,Sarah Butcher,Henning Hermjakob,Nicolas Le Novère,Wolfgang Mueller,Jacky L. Snoep,Jacky L. Snoep,Carole Goble +13 more
TL;DR: A recent community survey conducted by ISBE informs requirements for developing an efficient infrastructure for systems biology standards, data and model management.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chicken interferome: avian interferon-stimulated genes identified by microarray and RNA-seq of primary chick embryo fibroblasts treated with a chicken type I interferon (IFN-α).
Efstathios S. Giotis,Rebecca C. Robey,Natalie G. Skinner,Christopher Tomlinson,Stephen Goodbourn,Michael A. Skinner +5 more
TL;DR: This study focuses on the potentially anti-viral genes by identifying those induced just by interferon in primary chick embryo fibroblasts, and considers robust the results because 128 of the compiled, curated list of 193 regulated genes were detected by two, or more, of the technologies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vaccinating adolescents against SARS-CoV-2 in England: a risk-benefit analysis.
Deepti Gurdasani,Samir Bhatt,Anthony Costello,Spiros Denaxas,Seth Flaxman,Trisha Greenhalgh,Stephen Griffin,Zoë Hyde,Aris Katzourakis,Martin McKee,Susan Michie,Oliver Ratmann,Stephen Reicher,Gabriel Scally,Christopher Tomlinson,Christian A. Yates,Hisham Ziauddeen,Christina Pagel +17 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a quantitative riskbenefit analysis of two doses of SARS-CoV-2 vaccination among adolescents in England is presented, following a risk-benefit analysis methodology.
