Intrinsic backgrounds from Rn and Kr in the XENON100 experiment.

Elena Aprile, +116 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe the XENON100 data analyses used to assess the target-intrinsic background sources radon, thoron and krypton, and report an observed reduction in concentrations of radon daughters that they attribute to the plating-out of charged ions on the negatively biased cathode.
Journal ArticleDOI

The XENON1T Data Acquisition System

Elena Aprile, +132 more
TL;DR: The XENON1T liquid xenon time projection chamber is the most sensitive detector built to date for the measurement of direct interactions of weakly interacting massive particles with normal matter as discussed by the authors.

$^{222}$Rn emanation measurements for the XENON1T experiment

Elena Aprile, +148 more
TL;DR: The 222 Rn emanation measurements performed for the XENON1T dark matter experiment enabled us to select the radio-purest construction materials, targeting a 222Rn activity concentration of 10 μ Bq / kg in 3.2 t of xenon.

GeMSE: a low-background facility for gamma-spectrometry at moderate rock overburden

TL;DR: In this article , a fit to the known background components, modeled via a precise simulation of the detector, shows that the GeMSE background is now muon-dominated, which agrees with the prediction based on the expected decay of short-lived isotopes.
