Journal ArticleDOI
A prospective study of risk factors for erectile dysfunction.
Constance G. Bacon,Murray A. Mittleman,Murray A. Mittleman,Ichiro Kawachi,Edward Giovannucci,Dale B. Glasser,Eric B. Rimm +6 more
TL;DR: Reducing the risk of erectile dysfunction may be a useful and to this point unexploited motivation for men to engage in health promoting behaviors, and physical activity was inversely associated with therisk of erectiles dysfunction developing.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fluid intake and the risk of bladder cancer in men.
Dominique S. Michaud,Donna Spiegelman,Steven K. Clinton,Eric B. Rimm,Gary C. Curhan,Walter C. Willett,Edward Giovannucci +6 more
TL;DR: A high fluid intake is associated with a decreased risk of bladder cancer in men, and the reported frequency of consumption of the 22 types of beverages on the food-frequency questionnaire was derived.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nutrition, insulin, insulin-like growth factors and cancer.
TL;DR: The model presented here summarizes the data that chronic exposure to high levels of insulin and IGF-1 may mediate many of the risk factors for some cancers that are high in Western populations, and may help explain some of the epidemiologic patterns observed for these cancers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Major dietary patterns and the risk of colorectal cancer in women.
Teresa T. Fung,Frank B. Hu,Charles S. Fuchs,Edward Giovannucci,David J. Hunter,Meir J. Stampfer,Graham A. Colditz,Walter C. Willett +7 more
TL;DR: A significant positive association between the Western dietary pattern and the risk of colon cancer is found.
Journal Article
A polymorphism of the methionine synthase gene: association with plasma folate, vitamin B12, homocyst(e)ine, and colorectal cancer risk.
Jing Ma,Meir J. Stampfer,Benedicte Christensen,Edward Giovannucci,David J. Hunter,Jia Chen,Walter C. Willett,Jacob Selhub,Charles H. Hennekens,Roy A. Gravel,Rima Rozen +10 more
TL;DR: The possible association of the MTR polymorphism with lower risk of colorectal cancer especially among those with low alcohol consumption, in the same direction as for the MTHFR polymorphism, is intriguing, however, these findings need to be confirmed in larger populations.
