Journal ArticleDOI

Penumbral imaging and functional outcome in patients with anterior circulation ischaemic stroke treated with endovascular thrombectomy versus medical therapy: a meta-analysis of individual patient-level data

Bruce C.V. Campbell, +1296 more
- 01 Jan 2019 -
TL;DR: Estimated ischaemic core volume was independently associated with functional independence and functional improvement but did not modify the treatment benefit of endovascular thrombectomy over standard medical therapy for improved functional outcome.
Journal ArticleDOI

Incident subcortical infarcts induce focal thinning in connected cortical regions

TL;DR: In vivo evidence is provided for secondary cortical neurodegeneration after subcortical ischemia as a mechanism for brain atrophy in cerebrovascular disease and for focal cortical thinning in cortical regions with high probability of connectivity with the incident infarct.
Journal ArticleDOI

Strategic role of frontal white matter tracts in vascular cognitive impairment: a voxel-based lesion-symptom mapping study in CADASIL

TL;DR: In multivariate models that included demographic parameters, brain atrophy and the volume of ischaemic lesions, regional volumes of lacunar lesions and white matter hyperintensities in the anterior thalamic radiation predicted performance in processing speed tasks, whereas there was no independent contribution of the global volume of Ishaemic lesions.
