Journal ArticleDOI
Introducing Ionic and/or Hydrogen Bonds into the SAM//Ga 2 O 3 Top- Interface of Ag TS /S(CH 2 ) n T//Ga 2 O 3 /EGaIn Junctions
Carleen M. Bowers,Kung-Ching Liao,Hyo Jae Yoon,Dmitrij Rappoport,Mostafa Baghbanzadeh,Felice C. Simeone,George M. Whitesides +6 more
TL;DR: The insensitivity of the rate of tunneling to changes in the terminal functional group implies that replacing weak van der Waals contact interactions with stronger hydrogen- or ionic bonds at the T//Ga2O3 interface does not change the shape of the tunneling barrier enough to affect rates of charge transport.
Journal ArticleDOI
Infochemistry and infofuses for the chemical storage and transmission of coded information
Samuel W. Thomas,Ryan C. Chiechi,Christopher N. LaFratta,Michael R. Webb,Andrew L. Lee,Benjamin J. Wiley,Mitchell R. Zakin,David R. Walt,George M. Whitesides +8 more
TL;DR: A self-powered system that uses chemical reactions—the thermal excitation of alkali metals—to transmit coded alphanumeric information that is the first step toward systems that combine sensing and transduction of chemical signals with multicolor transmission of alphan numeric information.
Journal ArticleDOI
Design and synthesis of hydrogen-bonded aggregates. Theory and computation applied to three systems based on the cyanuric acid-melamine lattice
Eric E. Simanek,Mathai Mammen,Dana M. Gordon,Donovan N. Chin,J. P. Mathias,Christopher T. Seto,George M. Whitesides +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors review the design, synthesis, and characterization of three related aggregates, and summarizes initial results of two models: i) a computational model that predicts relative stabilities of aggregates; and ii) a theoretical model that assesses relative entropies of aggregation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mechanism of formation of Grignard reagents. The rate of reaction of cyclopentyl bromide with magnesium is transport limited in diethyl ether
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that cyclopentyl bromide is de- pendent on the first power of the organic halide concentration, the magnesium surface area, and the rate at which the solution is stirred, and is inversely dependent on the solution viscosity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis of a Phosphonate Analog of Sialic Acid (Neu5Ac) Using Indium-Mediated Allylation of Unprotected Carbohydrates in Aqueous Media
TL;DR: A short synthesis of a phosphonate analog 3 of sialic acid is described, which has been shown to inhibit neuraminidase more effectively than sIALic acid.
