Immunology of COVID-19: Current State of the Science.

Nicolas Vabret, +87 more
- 16 Jun 2020 -
TL;DR: The current state of knowledge of innate and adaptive immune responses elicited by SARS-CoV-2 infection and the immunological pathways that likely contribute to disease severity and death are summarized.
Journal ArticleDOI

Negative Role of RIG-I Serine 8 Phosphorylation in the Regulation of Interferon-β Production

TL;DR: Serine 8 phosphorylation at the first CARD of RIG-I is reported as a negative regulatory mechanism of Rig-I-mediated IFN-β production and sequence comparison reveals that only primate species carry serine 8, whereas other animal species carry an asparagine, indicating that serine 7 phosphorylated may represent a primate-specific regulation of R IG-I activation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Intestinal Host Response to SARS-CoV-2 Infection and COVID-19 Outcomes in Patients With Gastrointestinal Symptoms.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated intestinal infection with SARS-CoV-2, its effect on pathogenesis, and clinical significance, and found a significant reduction in disease severity and mortality in patients presenting with GI symptoms that was independent of sex, age, and comorbid illnesses.
