Biodiversity recovery of Neotropical secondary forests

Danaë M. A. Rozendaal, +97 more
- 01 Mar 2019 -
TL;DR: This work assesses how tree species richness and composition recover during secondary succession across gradients in environmental conditions and anthropogenic disturbance in an unprecedented multisite analysis for the Neotropics.
Journal ArticleDOI

Land change in the southern yucatán and calakmul biosphere reserve: effects on habitat and biodiversity

TL;DR: The results indicate that the current landscape matrix serves the biotic diversity of the Calakmul Biosphere Reserve, with several looming caveats involving the loss of humid forests and the interruption of biota flow across the ecocline, and the amount and proximity of older forest patches beyond the reserve.
Book ChapterDOI

Integrated Analysis of Ecosystem Interactions with Land-Use Change: The Southern Yucatan Peninsular Region

TL;DR: In this article, a conceptual model borrowed from vulnerability studies and detailed in regard to ecosystem responses, including forest structure and composition, above-ground biomass, soil nutrients, balance in species and biotic diversity, and invasive species.
Journal ArticleDOI

Senescence of Manilkara zapota trees and implications for large frugivorous birds in the Southern Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico

TL;DR: It is demonstrated here that these development phases, which are related to the population dynamics of trees, play an important role in the distribution of fauna based on observations on frugivorous birds.
