Probabilistic base calling of Solexa sequencing data

TL;DR: A novel base calling algorithm using model-based clustering and probability theory to identify ambiguous bases and code them with IUPAC symbols is proposed, which improves genome coverage and number of usable tags as compared with Solexa's data processing pipeline by an average of 15%.
Journal ArticleDOI

Improving the sensitivity of the sequence profile method.

TL;DR: Improved sequence profile method methods are found to be more sensitive and selective in a number of cases where previous methods have failed to completely separate true members from false positives.
