Longitudinal Weight Change During CKD Progression and Its Association With Subsequent Mortality
Elaine Ku,Joel D. Kopple,Kirsten L. Johansen,Kirsten L. Johansen,Charles E. McCulloch,Alan S. Go,Alan S. Go,Dawei Xie,Feng Lin,L. Lee Hamm,Jiang He,John W. Kusek,Sankar D. Navaneethan,Ana C. Ricardo,Hernan Rincon-Choles,Miroslaw Smogorzewski,Chi-yuan Hsu,Lawrence J. Appel,Harold I. Feldman,James P. Lash,Akinlolu O. Ojo,Mahboob Rahman,Raymond R. Townsend +22 more
TL;DR: Significant weight loss began relatively early during the course of CKD and was associated with a substantially higher risk for death after dialysis therapy initiation, and interventions to optimize weight and nutritional status before the initiation ofdialysis therapy will improve outcomes after end-stage renal disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Adherence to Healthy Dietary Patterns and Risk of CKD Progression and All-Cause Mortality: Findings From the CRIC (Chronic Renal Insufficiency Cohort) Study.
Emily A Hu,Josef Coresh,Cheryl A.M. Anderson,Lawrence J. Appel,Morgan E. Grams,Morgan E. Grams,Deidra C. Crews,Deidra C. Crews,Katherine T. Mills,Jiang He,Julia J. Scialla,Mahboob Rahman,Sankar D. Navaneethan,James P. Lash,Ana C. Ricardo,Harold I. Feldman,Matthew R. Weir,Haochang Shou,Casey M. Rebholz,Alan S. Go,Panduranga S. Rao,Raymond R. Townsend +21 more
TL;DR: Greater adherence to several healthy dietary patterns is associated with a lower risk of CKD progression and all-cause mortality among people with CKD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Alcohol consumption and the risk of end-stage renal disease among Chinese men
K. Reynolds,Dongfeng Gu,Jichun Chen,X. Tang,C.L. Yau,L. Yu,Chung-Shiuan Chen,X. Wu,L. Lee Hamm,Jiang He +9 more
TL;DR: The results suggest an inverse relationship between alcohol consumption and risk of ESRD in Chinese men and heavy alcohol consumption, however, may lead to increased risk of morbidity and mortality from other causes; therefore, the implications from these findings should be interpreted cautiously.
Journal ArticleDOI
Risk factors for progression of coronary artery calcification in patients with chronic kidney disease: The CRIC study.
Joshua D. Bundy,Jing Chen,Wei Yang,Matthew J. Budoff,Alan S. Go,Juan E. Grunwald,Radhakrishna R. Kallem,Wendy S. Post,Muredach P. Reilly,Ana C. Ricardo,Sylvia E. Rosas,Xiaoming Zhang,Jiang He +12 more
TL;DR: Reduced kidney function, calcium and phosphate metabolism disorders, and inflammation, independent of established CVD risk factors, may progress CAC among CKD patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Common Variants in Epithelial Sodium Channel Genes Contribute to Salt-Sensitivity of Blood Pressure: The GenSalt Study
Qi Zhao,Dongfeng Gu,James E. Hixson,De-Pei Liu,DC Rao,Cashell E. Jaquish,Tanika N. Kelly,Fanghong Lu,Jixiang Ma,Jianjun Mu,Lawrence Shimmin,Jichun Chen,Hao Mei,L. Lee Hamm,Jiang He +14 more
TL;DR: In this article, the association between common variants in the ENaC genes and salt sensitivity of blood pressure (BP) was examined, and the results indicated that common variants of ENaCs may contribute to the variation of BP response to dietary sodium intake.
