Heart rate variability is a predictor of mortality in chronic kidney disease: a report from the CRIC Study.
Paul E. Drawz,Denise C. Babineau,Carolyn Brecklin,Jiang He,Radhakrishna R. Kallem,Elsayed Z. Soliman,Dawei Xie,Dina Appleby,Amanda H. Anderson,Mahboob Rahman,Cric Study Investigators +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, a 10-second electrocardiogram was obtained at baseline in the Chronic Renal Insufficiency Cohort (CRIC) Study HRV was measured by the standard deviation of all R-R intervals (SDNN) and the root mean square of successive differences between R-r intervals (RMSSD) Results showed that lower HRV is associated with older age, lack of exercise, heart failure, elevated phosphorus and hemoglobin A1c, and low estimated glomerular filtration rate After a median follow-up of 42 years, in fully
Journal ArticleDOI
Risk Factors for Heart Failure in Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease: The CRIC (Chronic Renal Insufficiency Cohort) Study.
Jiang He,Michael G. Shlipak,Amanda H. Anderson,Jason Roy,Harold I. Feldman,Radhakrishna R. Kallem,Radhika Kanthety,John W. Kusek,Akinlolu Ojo,Mahboob Rahman,Ana C. Ricardo,Elsayed Z. Soliman,Myles Wolf,Xiaoming Zhang,Dominic S. Raj,L. Lee Hamm +15 more
TL;DR: This study indicates that cystatin C‐based eGFR and albuminuria are better predictors for risk of heart failure compared to creatinine‐based EGFR.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differences in cardiovascular disease risk when antihypertensive medication adherence is assessed by pharmacy fill versus self-report: the Cohort Study of Medication Adherence among Older Adults (CoSMO)
Marie Krousel-Wood,Elizabeth W. Holt,Cara Joyce,Rachael Ruiz,Adriana Dornelles,Larry S. Webber,Donald E. Morisky,Edward D. Frohlich,Richard N. Re,Jiang He,Paul K. Whelton,Paul Muntner +11 more
TL;DR: While both adherence measures were associated with BP control, pharmacy refill but not self-report antihypertensive medication adherence was associated with incident CVD, the differences in these associations may be because of the distinctions in what each adherence measure assesses.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genome-wide association study identifies 8 novel loci associated with blood pressure responses to interventions in Han Chinese.

Charles Gu,Karen Schwander,L. Lee Hamm,De-Pei Liu,Dabeeru C. Rao,James E. Hixson,Dongfeng Gu +36 more
TL;DR: There was a strong dose–response relationship between the number of risk alleles of these independent single-nucleotide polymorphisms and the risk of developing hypertension during the 7.5-year follow-up in the study participants.
