Journal ArticleDOI
Expression and function of the kallikrein-related peptidase 6 in the human melanoma microenvironment.
Stefanie Krenzer,Heike Peterziel,Cornelia Mauch,Sachiko I. Blaber,Michael Blaber,Peter Angel,Jochen Hess,Jochen Hess +7 more
TL;DR: The data provide experimental evidence that specific inhibition of the KLK6-PAR1 axis may interfere with the deleterious effect of tumor-microenvironment interaction and represent a potential option for translational melanoma research.
Journal ArticleDOI
TGF-β1 and TGF-β2 abundance in liver diseases of mice and men
A Dropmann,T. Dediulia,Katja Breitkopf-Heinlein,H. Korhonen,Michel Janicot,Susanne N. Weber,Maria Thomas,Albrecht Piiper,Esther Bertran,Isabel Fabregat,Kerstin Abshagen,Jochen Hess,Peter Angel,Cédric Coulouarn,Steven Dooley,NM Meindl-Beinker +15 more
TL;DR: It is shown that TGF-β2 mRNA expression and secretion increased in murine HSCs and hepatocytes over time in culture and were found in the human-derived HSC cell line LX-2, and suggests TGF -β2 as a promising therapeutic target for tackling fibrosis and HCC.
Journal ArticleDOI
Kallikrein-related peptidase 6 regulates epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition and serves as prognostic biomarker for head and neck squamous cell carcinoma patients
Carola H. Schrader,Markus R. Kolb,Karim Zaoui,Christa Flechtenmacher,Niels Grabe,Klaus-Josef Weber,Thomas Hielscher,Peter K. Plinkert,Jochen Hess,Jochen Hess +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the expression of Kallikrein-related peptidase 6 (KLK6) is a common feature for many human malignancies and numerous studies evaluated KLK6 as a promising biomarker for early diagnosis or unfavorable prognosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
New concepts for translational head and neck oncology: lessons from HPV-related oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinomas
TL;DR: This review summarizes the most recent advances in the understanding of the molecular principles of HPV-related OPSCC, mainly based on functional genomic approaches, but also emphasizes the significant role played by the tumor microenvironment, especially the immune system, for improved clinical outcome and differential sensitivity ofHPV-related tumors to current treatment options.
Journal ArticleDOI
CLIP2 as radiation biomarker in papillary thyroid carcinoma.
Martin Selmansberger,Annette Feuchtinger,L Zurnadzhy,A. Michna,Jan Christian Kaiser,Michael Abend,Alina V. Brenner,T Bogdanova,Axel Walch,Kristian Unger,Horst Zitzelsberger,Jochen Hess +11 more
TL;DR: This study successfully developed and independently validated a workflow for the typing of PTC clinical samples into CLIP2-positive and -negative cases and provided first insights into the ClIP2 interactome in the context of radiation-associated PTC.
