TL;DR: Central analysis determined missed identifications, environmental contamination, database matching and curation of protein identifications as sources of problems in liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry–based proteomics.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic analysis of the mouse brain proteome
Joachim Klose,Christina Nock,Marion Herrmann,Kai Stühler,Katrin Marcus,Martin Blüggel,Eberhard Krause,Leonard C. Schalkwyk,Sohaila Rastan,Steve D.M. Brown,Konrad Büssow,Heinz Himmelbauer,Hans Lehrach +12 more
TL;DR: 8,767 proteins from the mouse brain proteome are resolved by large-gel two-dimensional electrophoresis and 1,324 polymorphic proteins are detected from the European collaborative interspecific backcross, indicating that single proteins may act as polygenic traits.
Journal ArticleDOI
The amyloid precursor protein intracellular domain (AICD) as modulator of gene expression, apoptosis, and cytoskeletal dynamics-relevance for Alzheimer's disease.
TL;DR: A review summarizes recent findings in terms of the origin of AICD by regulated intramembrane proteolysis; its structure, binding factors, and post-translational modifications; and its putative role in gene transcription, apoptosis, and cytoskeletal dynamics.
Journal ArticleDOI
Regulation of mitochondrial respiration and apoptosis through cell signaling: Cytochrome c oxidase and cytochrome c in ischemia/reperfusion injury and inflammation
Maik Hüttemann,Stefan Helling,Thomas H. Sanderson,Christopher Sinkler,Lobelia Samavati,Gargi Mahapatra,Ashwathy Varughese,Guorong Lu,Jenney Liu,Rabia Ramzan,Sebastian Vogt,Lawrence I. Grossman,Jeffrey W. Doan,Katrin Marcus,Icksoo Lee +14 more
TL;DR: A model that links cell signaling with the phosphorylation state of Cytc and COX, which regulates their enzymatic activities, the mitochondrial membrane potential, and the production of ATP and ROS is discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of platelet proteins separated by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and analyzed by matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization-time of flight-mass spectrometry and detection of tyrosine-phosphorylated proteins.
TL;DR: A human blood platelet protein map was established and tyrosine‐phosphorylated proteins were identified using an anti-phosphotyrosine antibody and a method for immunoprecipitation of tyrosined peptides was optimized.
