Repletion of zinc in zinc-deficient cells strongly up-regulates IL-1β-induced IL-2 production in T-cells
TL;DR: Results indicate that short-term zinc supplementation to zinc-deficient T-cells leads to a fast rise in zinc levels which subsequently enhance cytokine production, and stabilized zinc levels seem to be essential to avoid negative concentration-dependent zinc effects on T-cell activation.

Zinc differentially regulates mitogen-activated protein kinases in human T cells
TL;DR: Investigation of the activation of p38 by zinc demonstrated that this MAPK is responsible for the zinc-mediated activation of CREB and mRNA expression of the Th1 cytokines interferon-gamma and interleukin-2, and regulation of MAPK activity contributes to the impact of zinc on T-cell function.
