Serum amyloid A and metabolic disease: evidence for a critical role in chronic inflammatory conditions
TL;DR: In this article , the authors compared the roles of SAA subtypes in chronic metabolic disease states and acute inflammatory events. And they found that SAA levels can rise up to 1,000-fold during an acute inflammatory event, while elevations are more modest (∼5-fold) during chronic metabolic conditions.
