TL;DR: The aspergilli comprise a diverse group of filamentous fungi spanning over 200 million years of evolution, and a comparative study with Aspergillus fumigatus and As pergillus oryzae, used in the production of sake, miso and soy sauce, provides new insight into eukaryotic genome evolution and gene regulation.

TL;DR: CDNA libraries generated in Project 4 document the overall complexity of expressed sequences in Neurospora, including alternative splicing alternative promoters and antisense transcripts, and drive the assembly of an SNP map presently populated by nearly 300 markers that will greatly accelerate the positional cloning of genes.

TL;DR: A set of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) between the reference Neurospora crassa strain Oak Ridge and the Mauriceville strain, of sufficient density to allow fine mapping of most loci, are discovered and validated.
