Spray-drying and fabrication of superionic conducting sodium rare-earth silicates

TL;DR: In this article, fine precursor powders of particle diameter of 0.50-7 μm and high surface area (9 m2/g) for superionic conducting Na5RESi4O12 (RE=Gd, Y) were successfully produced by spray-drying and an optimised calcination procedure.
Journal ArticleDOI

Conductive, Polypyrrole Coating on Mullite/Alumina Fibers for Electrophoretic Deposition of Oxide Matrices

TL;DR: In this paper, a Nextel 720/Al2O3 composite was synthesized using polypyrrole-coated fibers as the cathode in an EPD cell.
Journal ArticleDOI

Preparation and characterization of dense sodium superionic conducting Na5YSi4O12 (NYS)

TL;DR: In this article, a single phase NYS with a 300°C resistivity of 6.5 Ωcm, an activation energy for Na+ ion conduction of 20.1 kJ/mol, a flexural strength of 75 MPa, a duplex fine grain structure of (0.1-3μm) and a constant linear thermal expansion coefficient (25−470°C) of 13.1 × 10−6/°C ±5%.
Journal ArticleDOI

Valid KIC Determination via In‐Test Subcritical Precracking of Chevron‐Notched Bend Bars

TL;DR: In this article, an in-test precracking technique was developed for ceramics at room and elevated temperatures, and the results showed that ideal testing conditions were obtained, which guaranteed valid KIC determination.

Fracture of a brittle particulate composite Part 2 Theoreticalaspects

TL;DR: In this paper, a modified model for crack-particle interactions in brittle composites is proposed to account for penetrable obstacles, obstacle shape and secondary crack interactions, which is applied to a glass-unbonded nickel sphere composite system.
