Journal ArticleDOI
Survival among older patients with previously treated multiple myeloma treated with selinexor, bortezomib, and dexamethasone (XVd) in the BOSTON study.
Thierry Facon,Holger W. Auner,Maria Gavriatopoulou,Sosana Delimpasi,Maryana Simonova,Ivan Spicka,Luděk Pour,Meletios A. Dimopoulos,Iryna Kriachok,Halyna Pylypenko,Xavier Leleu,Hang Quach,Benjamin Reuben,Tuphan Kanti Dolai,Dinesh Kumar Sinha,Mamta Garg,Don A. Stevens,Jatin J. Shah,Paul G. Richardson,Sebastian Grosicki +19 more
TL;DR: In an older patient population with a poor prognosis, XVd was associated with a significant survival benefit, improved PFS and OR with reduced PN, and requires relatively short and infrequent clinic visits.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Future of Myeloma Therapy: One Size Does Not Fit All.
TL;DR: There are many different subsets of Myeloma, with different biologic drivers and patient-based characteristics that influence therapeutic efficacy, and the careful assessment of both the underlying disease biology and the overall status of the patient can assist in optimizing the type of therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Acute variceal bleeding in a man with coeliac disease
TL;DR: A 49-year-old man presented with a 1-week history of melaena, lethargy and dizziness, which revealed pallor and splenomegaly, and reported strict adherence with gluten-free diet, and no weight loss.
Receptor activator of nuclear factor-kappa B (RANK) ligand expression: In human multiple myeloma cells.
Constantine S. Mitsiades,Nicholas Mitsiades,Poulaki,Toshiaki Hayashi,T Hideshima,Klaus Podar,Richard Leblanc,L Catley,Yu-Tzu Tai,D Chauhan,Boris Lin,Robert Schlossman,Paul G. Richardson,N Munshi,Steven P. Treon,KC Anderson +15 more
Journal ArticleDOI
VEGF Upregulates Mcl-1 Expression and Protects Multiple Myeloma Cells Against Starvation Induced-Apoptosis.
Steven Le Gouill,Steven Le Gouill,Klaus Podar,Martine Amiot,Teru Hideshima,Dharminder Chauhan,Kenji Ishitsuka,Shaji Kumar,Noopur Raje,Paul G. Richardson,Jean-Luc Harousseau,Kenneth C. Anderson +11 more
TL;DR: VEGF protects MM cells against apoptosis, and that VEGF-induced MM cell proliferation and survival is mediated via Mcl-1, which provides the preclinical framework for novel therapeutics targeting both M cl-1 and/or V EGF to improve patient outcome in MM.
