Search for gravitational wave radiation associated with the pulsating tail of the SGR 1806-20 hyperflare of 27 December 2004 using LIGO

B. P. Abbott, +455 more
- 27 Sep 2007 -
TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed an upper bound of 4.5×10^(−1/2) on the waveform strength in the detectable polarization state reaching the Hanford (WA) 4 km detector.
Journal ArticleDOI

Multimodal properties and dynamics of gradient echo quantum memory.

TL;DR: It is shown that GEM can be described by the dynamic formation of polaritons in k space, and that, as GEM is a frequency-encoding memory, it can accurately preserve the shape of signals that have large time-bandwidth products, even at moderate optical depths.
Journal ArticleDOI

Gradient echo memory in an ultra-high optical depth cold atomic ensemble

TL;DR: In this paper, a magneto-optical trap with a peak optical depth of 1000 for the D2 F = 2! F 0 = 3 transition using spatial and temporal dark spots is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

First LIGO search for gravitational wave bursts from cosmic (super)strings

B. P. Abbott, +513 more
- 23 Sep 2009 -
TL;DR: In this paper, a matched-filter search for gravitational wave bursts from cosmic string cusps using LIGO data from the fourth science run (S4) which took place in February and March 2005 was reported.
