Quantifying Submarine Groundwater Discharge in the Coastal Zone via Multiple Methods
William C. Burnett,Pradeep K. Aggarwal,Alice Aureli,Henry Bokuniewicz,Jaye E. Cable,Matthew A. Charette,Evgeny A. Kontar,Steve L. Krupa,Kshitij M. Kulkarni,A. Loveless,Willard S. Moore,June A. Oberdorfer,Joselene de Oliveira,N. Nur Ozyurt,Pavel P. Povinec,A.M.G. Privitera,Rudi Rajar,Roshan T Ramessur,Jan Scholten,Thomas Stieglitz,Makoto Taniguchi,Jeffrey V. Turner +21 more
TL;DR: While the process is essentially ubiquitous in coastal areas, the assessment of its magnitude at any one location is subject to enough variability that measurements should be made by a variety of techniques and over large enough spatial and temporal scales to capture the majority of these changing conditions.
ReportDOI
SOLMINEQ.88; a computer program for geochemical modeling of water-rock interactions
TL;DR: SOLMINEQ.88 as mentioned in this paper is the latest version of the 1973-computer program code SOLMNEQ and its various updated versions for modeling geochemical interactions in sedimentary basins and petroleum reservoirs where petroleum, aqueous organic species and subsurface pressure play an important role.
Journal ArticleDOI
How old is streamwater? Open questions in catchment transit time conceptualization, modelling and analysis
Jeffrey J. McDonnell,Jeffrey J. McDonnell,Kevin J. McGuire,Pradeep K. Aggarwal,Keith Beven,Daniela Biondi,Georgia Destouni,Sarah M. Dunn,April L. James,James W. Kirchner,Philipp Kraft,Steve W. Lyon,P. Maloszewski,B. Newman,Laurent Pfister,Andrea Rinaldo,Allan Rodhe,Takahiro Sayama,Jan Seibert,K. Solomon,Chris Soulsby,Michael K. Stewart,Doerthe Tetzlaff,C. Tobin,Peter Troch,Markus Weiler,Andrew W. Western,Anders Wörman,Sebastian Wrede +28 more
TL;DR: The time water spends travelling subsurface through a catchment to the stream network (i.e., the catchment water transit time) fundamentally describes the storage, flow pathway heterogeneity and sou...
Journal ArticleDOI
Geochemical study of arsenic release mechanisms in the Bengal Basin groundwater
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigate arsenic mobility in the Bengal Basin groundwater and find strong correlations among high levels of dissolved arsenic and iron, ammonia, and methane in samples from a single site (Laxmipur).
Journal ArticleDOI
Global isoscapes for δ 18 O and δ 2 H in precipitation: improved prediction using regionalized climatic regression models
TL;DR: A regionalized cluster-based water isotope prediction (RCWIP) approach, based on the Global Network of Isotopes in Precipitation (GNIP), was demonstrated for the purposes of predicting point and large-scale spatio-temporal patterns of the stable isotope composition (δ2H, δ18O) of precipitation around the world as discussed by the authors.
