Journal ArticleDOI
Krüppel-like factor 5 Is Essential for Blastocyst Development and the Normal Self-Renewal of Mouse ESCs
Masatsugu Ema,Daisuke Mori,Hitoshi Niwa,Yoshikazu Hasegawa,Yojiro Yamanaka,Seiji Hitoshi,Junsei Mimura,Yoh ichi Kawabe,Tomohiro Hosoya,Masanobu Morita,Daisuke Shimosato,Kazuhiko Uchida,Norio Suzuki,Jun Yanagisawa,Kazuhiro Sogawa,Janet Rossant,Masayuki Yamamoto,Satoru Takahashi,Yoshiaki Fujii-Kuriyama +18 more
TL;DR: It is shown that homozygous disruption of Klf5 results in the failure of ESC derivation from ICM cells and early embryonic lethality due to an implantation defect, and the results suggest that Klf 5 regulates ESC proliferation by promoting phosphorylation of Akt1 via induction of Tcl1.
Journal ArticleDOI
Erythroid-specific expression of the erythropoietin receptor rescued its null mutant mice from lethality
Norio Suzuki,Norio Suzuki,Norio Suzuki,Osamu Ohneda,Osamu Ohneda,Osamu Ohneda,Satoru Takahashi,Satoru Takahashi,Satoru Takahashi,Masato Higuchi,Masato Higuchi,Masato Higuchi,Harumi Y. Mukai,Harumi Y. Mukai,Harumi Y. Mukai,Tatsutoshi Nakahata,Tatsutoshi Nakahata,Tatsutoshi Nakahata,Shigehiko Imagawa,Shigehiko Imagawa,Shigehiko Imagawa,Masayuki Yamamoto,Masayuki Yamamoto,Masayuki Yamamoto +23 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that nonhematopoietic expression of EpoR is dispensable to normal mouse development and that the expression level ofEpoR regulates erythropoiesis by controlling the sensitivity of erythroid progenitors to Epo.
Journal ArticleDOI
Aire controls the differentiation program of thymic epithelial cells in the medulla for the establishment of self-tolerance
Masashi Yano,Noriyuki Kuroda,Hongwei Han,Makiko Meguro-Horike,Yumiko Nishikawa,Hiroshi Kiyonari,Kentaro Maemura,Yuchio Yanagawa,Kunihiko Obata,Satoru Takahashi,Tomokatsu Ikawa,Rumi Satoh,Hiroshi Kawamoto,Yasuhiro Mouri,Mitsuru Matsumoto +14 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that Aire controls the differentiation program of mTECs, thereby organizing the global mT EC integrity that enables TRA expression from terminally differentiated mTecs in the thymic microenvironment.
Journal ArticleDOI
MafB is essential for renal development and F4/80 expression in macrophages.
Takashi Moriguchi,Michito Hamada,Naoki Morito,Tsumoru Terunuma,Kazuteru Hasegawa,Chuan Zhang,Tomomasa Yokomizo,Ritsuko Esaki,Etsushi Kuroda,Keigyou Yoh,Takashi Kudo,Michio Nagata,David R. Greaves,James Douglas Engel,Masayuki Yamamoto,Satoru Takahashi +15 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that MafB is essential for podocyte differentiation, renal tubule survival, and F4/80 maturation in a distinct subpopulation of nonadherent mature macrophages.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hyperglycemia induces oxidative and nitrosative stress and increases renal functional impairment in Nrf2-deficient mice
Keigyou Yoh,Aki Hirayama,Kazusa Ishizaki,Akiko Yamada,Masayoshi Takeuchi,Sho-ichi Yamagishi,Naoki Morito,Takako Nakano,Masami Ojima,Homare Shimohata,Ken Itoh,Satoru Takahashi,Masayuki Yamamoto +12 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that hyperglycemia increased oxidative and nitrosative stress and accelerated renal injury in the NRF2 KO mice and that Nrf2 serves as a defense factor against some diabetic complications.
