Nodularin, a Potent Inhibitor of Protein Phosphatases 1 and 2A, Is a New Environmental Carcinogen in Male F344 Rat Liver

TL;DR: Nodularin itself is a new liver carcinogen and microcystin-LR is a tumor promoter rather than a carcinogen, and the need for prevention measures against cyanobacterial toxins is indicated.
Journal ArticleDOI

The tiger genome and comparative analysis with lion and snow leopard genomes

TL;DR: Comparison genetic analyses of the genomes of a white Bengal tiger, African lion, white African lion and snow leopard find genetic signatures that may reflect molecular adaptations consistent with the big cats’ hypercarnivorous diet and muscle strength.
Journal Article

Regulation of transforming growth factor beta1 by nitric oxide.

TL;DR: Results provide the first evidence that nitrosative stress influences the regulation of TGF-beta1 and raise the possibility that NO production may augment TGF -beta1 activity by modifying a naturally occurring neutralizing peptide.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genipin-induced apoptosis in hepatoma cells is mediated by reactive oxygen species/c-Jun NH2-terminal kinase-dependent activation of mitochondrial pathway.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that genipin induces apoptotic cell death in FaO rat hepatoma cells and human hepatocarcinoma Hep3B cells, detected by morphological cellular changes, caspase activation and release of cytochrome c.
