Journal ArticleDOI
Generation and in vitro characterisation of inhibitory nanobodies towards plasminogen activator inhibitor 1
Xiaohua Zhou,Maarten L. V. Hendrickx,Gholamreza Hassanzadeh-Ghassabeh,Serge Muyldermans,Paul Declerck +4 more
TL;DR: These five nanobodies interfere with PAI-1 activity through different mechanisms and merit further evaluation for the development of future profibrinolytic therapeutics.
Journal ArticleDOI
Isolation and characterization of single-chain Fv genes encoding antibodies specific for Drosophila Poxn protein.
Gholamreza Hassanzadeh Gh.,Kumudu S.K. De Silva,Christine Dambly-Chaudière,Lea Brys,Alain Ghysen,Raymond Hamers,Serge Muyldermans,Patrick De Baetselier +7 more
TL;DR: Three single‐chain variable fragments (scFv) which specifically recognize poxn protein are isolated and it is found that the α‐Poxn5 scFv also recognizes denatured Poxn but either does not recognize native PoxN or its half maximal inhibition value for native P Roxn is high.
Journal ArticleDOI
Non-canonical roles of connexins
Raf Van Campenhout,Axelle Cooreman,Kaat Leroy,Olga M. Rusiecka,Pieter Van Brantegem,Pieter Annaert,Serge Muyldermans,Nick Devoogdt,Bruno Cogliati,Brenda R. Kwak,Mathieu Vinken +10 more
TL;DR: The present paper focuses on atypical roles of connexin proteins, which are involved in the intercellular exchange of small and hydrophilic molecules and ions and can also control the cellular life cycle independent of their channel activities.
Journal ArticleDOI
An innovative approach in the detection of Toxocara canis excretory/secretory antigens using specific nanobodies.
Francisco Morales-Yánez,Francisco Morales-Yánez,Idalia Sariego,Cécile Vincke,Gholamreza Hassanzadeh-Ghassabeh,Katja Polman,Serge Muyldermans +6 more
TL;DR: The specific characteristics of Nbs make this ELISA not only a promising tool for the detection of T ES antigens in clinical samples, but also for a detailed structural and functional study of TES antIGens.
Journal ArticleDOI
Direct Immobilization of Engineered Nanobodies on Gold Sensors.
Bárbara Simões,Wanda Guedens,Charlie Keene,Karina Kubiak-Ossowska,Paul A. Mulheran,Anna M. Kotowska,David J. Scurr,Morgan R. Alexander,Alexis Broisat,Steven Johnson,Serge Muyldermans,Nick Devoogdt,Peter Adriaensens,Paula M. Mendes +13 more
TL;DR: In this article, a modified cysteine strategically positioned at the C-terminal end of the nanobody was used for direct immobilization of nanobodies on gold sensors.
