Enhanced haze pollution by black carbon in megacities in China
Aijun Ding,Xin Huang,Wei Nie,Jianning Sun,Veli-Matti Kerminen,Veli-Matti Kerminen,Tuukka Petäjä,Tuukka Petäjä,Hang Su,Yafang Cheng,Xiu-Qun Yang,Minghuai Wang,Xuguang Chi,Jiaping Wang,Aki Virkkula,Weidong Guo,Jian Yuan,Songhan Wang,Renjian Zhang,Yunfei Wu,Yu Song,Tong Zhu,Sergej Zilitinkevich,Sergej Zilitinkevich,Markku Kulmala,Congbin Fu +25 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors show that black carbon aerosols play a key role in modifying the PBL meteorology and hence enhancing the haze pollution in megacities in China.
Journal ArticleDOI
Recent global decline of CO2 fertilization effects on vegetation photosynthesis
Songhan Wang,Songhan Wang,Yongguang Zhang,Yongguang Zhang,Yongguang Zhang,Weimin Ju,Weimin Ju,Jing M. Chen,Jing M. Chen,Philippe Ciais,Alessandro Cescatti,Jordi Sardans,Ivan A. Janssens,Mousong Wu,Mousong Wu,Joseph A. Berry,Elliott Campbell,Marcos Fernández-Martínez,Ramdane Alkama,Stephen Sitch,Pierre Friedlingstein,William K. Smith,Wenping Yuan,Wei He,Wei He,Danica Lombardozzi,Markus Kautz,Dan Zhu,Sebastian Lienert,Etsushi Kato,Benjamin Poulter,Tanja G. M. Sanders,Inken Krüger,Rong Wang,Ning Zeng,Ning Zeng,Hanqin Tian,Nicolas Vuichard,Atul K. Jain,A. Wiltshire,Vanessa Haverd,Daniel S. Goll,Daniel S. Goll,Josep Peñuelas +43 more
TL;DR: Global CFE has declined across most terrestrial regions of the globe from 1982 to 2015, correlating well with changing nutrient concentrations and availability of soil water, and implies a weakening negative feedback on the climatic system and increased societal dependence on future strategies to mitigate climate warming.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tracking the seasonal and inter-annual variations of global gross primary production during last four decades using satellite near-infrared reflectance data
TL;DR: The satellite-based near-infrared reflectance (NIRv) is used as the proxy of GPP and a global long-term (1982-2018) GPP datasets derived from NIRv are generated that could be beneficial for the estimation of terrestrial carbon fluxes and for the projection of future climates.
Journal ArticleDOI
Urban-rural gradients reveal joint control of elevated CO2 and temperature on extended photosynthetic seasons.
Songhan Wang,Songhan Wang,Weimin Ju,Weimin Ju,Josep Peñuelas,Alessandro Cescatti,Yuyu Zhou,Yongshuo H. Fu,Alfredo Huete,Min Liu,Yongguang Zhang,Yongguang Zhang +11 more
TL;DR: This observation-driven study indicates that realistic urban environments, together with SIF observations, provide a promising method for studying vegetation physiology under future climate change, since cities can be used as natural laboratories for higher temperatures and CO2 concentrations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Solar-induced chlorophyll fluorescence and its link to canopy photosynthesis in maize from continuous ground measurements
Zhaohui Li,Zhaohui Li,Qian Zhang,Qian Zhang,Ji Li,Xi Yang,Yunfei Wu,Zhaoying Zhang,Songhan Wang,Hezhou Wang,Yongguang Zhang,Yongguang Zhang +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, continuous in situ measurements for canopy far-red SIF retrieval and gross primary production (GPP) calculation were made in maize during the growing season of 2017.
