Are all the hypertensives made equal
Arnljot Flaa,Sverre E. Kjeldsen +1 more
TL;DR: Blood pressure lowering in hypertensive patients is of significant importance, and extensive research has provided us with many antihypertensive drugs, but data indicate that the proportion of patients with controlled blood pressure is far from satisfying.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dopamine release from the porcine myocardium.
TL;DR: During stable hemodynamic conditions in 13 young, thoracotomized pigs with the heart in situ, a net release of dopamine was found into the coronary sinus amounting to 1.39 +/- 0.36 ng/min X 100 g of left ventricular muscle mass, which indicates a release of serotonin from the heart independent of sympathetic noradrenergic activity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association of left bundle branch block with cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in hypertensive patients with left ventricle hypertrophy: the life study
Zhibin Li,Richard B. Devereux,Sverre E. Kjeldsen,Stevo Julius,Kristian Wachtell,Hans Ibsen,Markku S. Nieminen,Sverker Jern,Peter M. Okin,Björn Dahlöf +9 more
TL;DR: Abstract P-406 Key Words: Left Bundle Branch Block, Hypertensive, left Ventricle Hypertrophy, Left Ventricled Hypertension, and Left Bundles Branch Block are studied.
Journal ArticleDOI
Predictors of systolic BP <140 mmHg and systolic BP level by randomly assigned treatment group (benazepril plus amlodipine or hydrochlorothiazide) in the ACCOMPLISH Study
Sverre E. Kjeldsen,Kenneth Jamerson,George L. Bakris,Bertram Pitt,Björn Dahlöf,Eric J. Velazquez,Tsushung A. Hua,Roxzana Y. Kelly,Dion H. Zappe,Allen Hester,Jaakko Tuomilehto,Jan Östergren,Hans Ibsen,Michael A. Weber +13 more
TL;DR: Irrespective of treatment, patients in the USA and Caucasians achieved better SBP control, whereas higher baseline SBP and more previous antihypertensive medications indicated less control.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cardiovascular outcomes at recommended blood pressure targets in middle-aged and elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and hypertension.
Eirik Olsen,Björn Holzhauer,Stevo Julius,Sverre E. Kjeldsen,Anne Cecilie K Larstorp,Anne Cecilie K Larstorp,Giuseppe Mancia,Maria H Mehlum,Rune Mo,Morten Rostrup,Morten Rostrup,Camilla Lund Søraas,Dion H. Zappe,Michael A. Weber +13 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors show that little evidence supports the guidelines recommendations to lower blood pressure (BP) to <130/80mmHg in middle-aged and elderly peop...
