Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of cold pressor test and awareness of hypertension on platelet function in normotensive and hypertensive women
TL;DR: Plasma beta-thromboglobulin (beta-TG) concentration, reflecting platelet function in vivo, was compared in fertile women with untreated essential hypertension and age-matched normotensives, in two separate studies and seemed to be normal in fertile hypertensive women.
Journal ArticleDOI
Serum uric acid and hemorheology in borderline hypertensives and in subjects with established hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy.
TL;DR: Data suggest that hemorheology may be involved in the uric acid metabolism in borderline as well as in established hypertensives, and may possibly be a link between SUA and cardiovascular risk.
Journal ArticleDOI

Journal ArticleDOI
Echocardiographic demonstration of improved myocardial function early after coronary artery bypass graft surgery
Camilla Lund Søraas,Anne Cecilie K Larstorp,Arild Mangschau,Theis Tønnessen,Theis Tønnessen,Sverre E. Kjeldsen,Sverre E. Kjeldsen,Reidar Bjørnerheim +7 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that CABG improves myocardial contractility within the first days postoperatively, and echocardiographic determination of wall motion is a useful tool to observe LV function.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diabetes and CVD risk during angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor or angiotensin II receptor blocker treatment in hypertension: a study of 15,990 patients.
Lars Pål Hasvold,Johan Bodegard,Marcus Thuresson,Jan Stålhammar,Niklas Hammar,Johan Sundström,David Russell,Sverre E. Kjeldsen +7 more
TL;DR: Patients initiated on candesartan treatment had a lower risk of new-onset type 2 diabetes and lower rates of drug discontinuation compared with patients initiated on enalapril, and no differences in CVD risk were observed.
