TL;DR: The Forest Observation System (FOS) initiative is presented, an international cooperation to establish and maintain a global in situ forest biomass database that offers the potential to improve the accuracy of RS-based biomass products while developing new synergies between the RS and ground-based ecosystem research communities.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quality of wood litter as an informative indicator of functional classification of forests
E V Basova,N. V. Lukina,Alina Kuznecova,A. V. Gornov,N. E. Shevchenko,E.V. Tikhonova,A. P. Geraskina,Tatyana Braslavskaya,D. N. Tebenkova,D. L. Lugovaya +9 more
TL;DR: In this article , an approach to the identification of functional types of forests (FTL) based on the quality of tree litter, taking into account the position in the landscape and the mechanical composition of soil-forming rocks, was discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-term effect of wildfires on vascular plant and soil invertebrate diversity in primary fir-spruce forests of the ural mountains (north eurasia)
Tatyana Braslavskaya,A. P. Geraskina,Alexei Aleinikov,N. V. Belyaeva,Natalija Ukhova,V. N. Korotkov,Denis S Shilov,D. L. Lugovaya,O. V. Smirnova +8 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors compared the primary forests and post fire 100-year small-leaved deciduous forests by diversity of vascular flora and soil invertebrate macrofauna.
