Journal ArticleDOI

Hyaluronan and Its Heavy Chain Modification in Asthma Severity and Experimental Asthma Exacerbation.

TL;DR: The data implicate hyaluronan and its heavy chain modification in the pathogenesis of asthma severity that may occur in part due to repetitive asthma exacerbations over the course of the disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hyaluronan Regulates Bone Morphogenetic Protein-7-dependent Prevention and Reversal of Myofibroblast Phenotype

TL;DR: A novel mechanism of TGF-β1 antagonism by BMP7 is shown and alteration in HA is identified as critical in mediating B MP7 responses, and Hyal2 and CD44v7/8 are identified as new potential targets for manipulation in prevention and reversal of fibrotic pathology.
Journal ArticleDOI

In vivo transplantation of autogenous marrow-derived cells following rapid intraoperative magnetic separation based on hyaluronan to augment bone regeneration.

TL;DR: Testing the hypothesis that rapid intraoperative processing of bone marrow based on hyaluronan could be used to improve the outcome of local bone regeneration if the concentration and prevalence of marrow-derived connective tissue progenitors (CTPs) could be increased and nonprogenitors depleted before implantation suggests that MS processing may be used.
Journal ArticleDOI

Training the next generation of biomedical investigators in glycosciences

TL;DR: The urgent need to bring the glycosciences back into the mainstream of biology by integrating relevant education into the curricula of medical, graduate, and postgraduate training programs, thus generating a critical sustainable workforce that can advance the much-needed translation of gly cosciences into a more complete understanding of biology and the enhanced practice of medicine.
Journal ArticleDOI

Heparan sulfate analysis from diabetic rat glomeruli.

TL;DR: This study examined the fine structure of HS in the glomerulus and the GBM isolated from the kidneys of rats injected with streptozotocin and generated oligosaccharides of HS that portray fine structural alterations in the diabetic rats indicative of a loss of the sulfation of N-acetylglucosamine.
