TL;DR: In this article, a computing device with a display simultaneously displays a plurality of user interface objects, a currently selected user interface object, and the plurality of resizing handles for the currently selected UIs.
Abstract: A computing device with a display simultaneously displays a plurality of user interface objects, a currently selected user interface object, and a plurality of resizing handles for the currently selected user interface object. Each respective resizing handle has a corresponding handle activation region with a default position relative to the respective resizing handle, a default size, and a default shape. The device detects a first input on a first handle activation region for a first resizing handle in the plurality of resizing handles. In response to detecting the first input, the device: resizes the currently selected user interface object, and for at least one resizing handle in the plurality of resizing handles, modifies a corresponding handle activation region by changing the position of the handle activation region relative to the resizing handle from the default position to a modified position.

TL;DR: In this article, a system and processes for detecting and/or providing a whispered speech response are provided, where speech is received from a user, and based on the speech input, determined that a whispering speech response is to be provided.
Abstract: Systems and processes for detecting and/or providing a whispered speech response are provided. In one example process, speech is received from a user, and based on the speech input, determined that a whispered speech response is to be provided. Upon determining that a whispered speech response is to be provided, the whispered speech response is generated and provided to the user.

TL;DR: Perceptual experiments with trained human listeners revealed that MLPs perform much better than humans on vowels excised from context, and the cochleagram is superior to the spectrogram in classification performance for all experimental conditions.
Abstract: The ability of multilayer perceptrons (MLPs) trained with backpropagation to classify vowels excised from natural continuous speech is examined. Two spectral representations are compared: spectrograms and cochleagrams. The features used to train the MLPs include discrete Fourier transform (DFT) or cochleagram coefficients from a single frame in the middle of the vowel, or coefficients from each third of the vowel. The effects of estimates of pitch, duration, and the relative amplitude of the vowel were investigated. The experiments show that with coefficients alone, the cochleagram is superior to the spectrogram in classification performance for all experimental conditions. With the three additional features, however, the results are comparable. Perceptual experiments with trained human listeners on the same data revealed that MLPs perform much better than humans on vowels excised from context. >

TL;DR: In this article, an electronic device with a display, a microphone, and an input device is considered, where the display is on, the user input is received via the input device, and the user inputs meeting a predetermined condition are sampled via the microphone.
Abstract: At an electronic device with a display, a microphone, and an input device: while the display is on, receiving user input via the input device, the user input meeting a predetermined condition; in accordance with receiving the user input meeting the predetermined condition, sampling audio input received via the microphone; determining whether the audio input comprises a spoken trigger; and in accordance with a determination that audio input comprises the spoken trigger, triggering a virtual assistant session.

TL;DR: In this article, the adjustable electrical components are coupled between antenna system components such as transmission line elements, matching network elements, antenna elements, and antenna feeds, and switches and components can be adjusted between numerous different states.
Abstract: An electronic device has wireless communications circuitry including an adjustable antenna system coupled to a radio-frequency transceiver. The adjustable antenna system may include one or more adjustable electrical components that are controlled by storage and processing circuitry in the electronic device. The adjustable electrical components may include switches and components that can be adjusted between numerous different states. The adjustable electrical components may be coupled between antenna system components such as transmission line elements, matching network elements, antenna elements and antenna feeds. By adjusting the adjustable electrical components, the storage and processing circuitry can tune the adjustable antenna system to ensure that the adjustable antenna system covers communications bands of interest.
