TL;DR: In this article, a mutual capacitive touch sensing device is described, which includes a controller with a plurality of distinct drive lines and a number of distinct sense lines, a source for driving a current or voltage separately though each drive line; and a sensing circuit that monitors the capacitance at the sensing lines.
Abstract: A mutual capacitive touch sensing device is disclosed. The touch sensing device includes a mutual capacitive sensing controller having a plurality of distinct drive lines and a plurality of distinct sense lines; a source for driving a current or voltage separately though each drive line; and a mutual capacitance sensing circuit that monitors the capacitance at the sensing lines. The touch sensing device also includes a plurality of independent and spatially distinct mutual capacitive sensing nodes set up in a non two dimensional array. Each node includes a drive electrode that is spatially separated from a sense electrode. The drive electrode is coupled to one of the drive lines and the sense electrode is coupled to one of the sense lines. Each node is set up with a different combination of drive and sense line coupled thereto.

TL;DR: In this paper, the presentation of the windows is flattened so that all windows appear at the same virtual depth, rather than overlapping one another, and there is no need to minimize windows in order to access one that is overlaid by another.
Abstract: A computer-human interface provides a mechanism to manage the available space of a computer display in a manner that facilitates navigation among multiple windows that are overlaid upon one another. The interface includes a user-selectable mode in which the windows are rearranged, and resized if necessary, so that all open windows can be simultaneously viewed within the area of the display, thereby enabling any one of the windows to be easily selected for access. In effect, the presentation of the windows is “flattened” so that all windows appear at the same virtual depth, rather than overlapping one another. With this approach, there is no need to minimize windows in order to access one that is overlaid by another, thereby enabling the user to keep the content of all windows visible and accessible. Subsets of windows can be repositioned in the same manner, or all windows can be removed from the display area for access to desktop objects.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a graphical user interface for editing on a portable multifunction device with a touch screen display, where the device detects a multitouch edit initiation gesture on the touch screen and displays a plurality of user-selectable edit option icons.
Abstract: Methods and graphical user interfaces for editing on a portable multifunction device with a touch screen display are disclosed. While displaying an application interface of an application, the device detects a multitouch edit initiation gesture on the touch screen display. In response to detection of the multitouch edit initiation gesture, the device displays a plurality of user-selectable edit option icons in an area of the touch screen display that is independent of a location of the multitouch edit initiation gesture. The device also displays a start point object and an end point object to select content displayed by the application in the application interface.

TL;DR: In this paper, a computer-implemented text selection method is performed using an electronic device having a touch-sensitive display, which can include displaying text on the touch screen display; detecting a text selection initiation gesture with the touch-screen display; and in response to the text selection initiated gesture, inserting a text area bounded by a first endpoint located in the text at a first location and a second endpoint in a second location.
Abstract: In accordance with some embodiments, a computer-implemented text selection method is performed using an electronic device having a touch-sensitive display. The method can include displaying text on the touch screen display; detecting a text selection initiation gesture with the touch screen display; and in response to the text selection initiation gesture, inserting a text selection area bounded by a first endpoint located in the text at a first location and a second endpoint in the text at a second location. First and second endpoints can be moved by performing further gestures on the touch-sensitive display. Furthermore, word processing functions can be performed on the on the text located in the text selection area.

TL;DR: In this paper, improved techniques for synchronization of media contents stored on a media player with media contents storing on a host computer are disclosed, where synchronization can be automatically initiated and performed upon connection of a data link between the media player and the host computer.
Abstract: Improved techniques for synchronization of media contents stored on a media player with media contents stored on a host computer are disclosed. According to one aspect, synchronization can be automatically initiated and performed upon connection of a data link between the media player and the host computer. According to another aspect, synchronization is able to be achieved with a reduced amount of data transfer between the host computer and the media device.
