04 Aug 2006TL;DR: In this article, a user interface can have one or more spaces presented therein, and a view can be generated of all spaces and their contents, such that the program(s) of only a single space is visible when the space is active.
Abstract: A user interface can have one or more spaces presented therein. A space is a grouping of one or more program windows in relation to windows of other application programs, such that the program(s) of only a single space is visible when the space is active. A view can be generated of all spaces and their contents.

07 Oct 2005TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present techniques for associating a wireless controller to a host device, such that the host device is responsive to the associated wireless controller but not responsive to other wireless controllers that may be in the vicinity.
Abstract: Techniques for associating a wireless controller to a host device are disclosed. Once associated, the host device is responsive to the associated wireless controller but not responsive to other wireless controllers that may be in the vicinity. Subsequently, if desired, the association with the wireless controller can be removed and a different association with another wireless controller can be invoked. As an example, the wireless controller can be a portable remote controller, and the host device can be a personal computer, a home stereo, a portable media player, or a docking station for a portable media player. In one implementation, the portable remote controller can be an infrared remote controller.

01 Mar 1996TL;DR: In this paper, a method and apparatus for synchronizing the presentation of time dependent data to a first dock having a first frequency is disclosed, and a rate conversion is performed on a data stream for a first time period.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for synchronizing the presentation of time dependent data to a first dock having a first frequency is disclosed. First, a rate conversion is performed on a data stream for a first time period. Second, the rate of conversion is modified to provide a modified rate of conversion. Third, a rate of conversion having a modified rate of conversion is performed on the data stream for a second time period. The second and third steps are repeated until all samples in the data stream are presented. The rate of conversion is modified from one period to the next based on a measurement of the difference between a rate for the first clock and the rate of a second less precise clock.

31 Aug 2010TL;DR: In this article, a processor for generating a result vector that contains results from a comparison operation is presented, where the processor first captures a base value from a key element position in the first input vector, and then compares the base value and values from relevant elements to the left of a corresponding element in the second input vector.
Abstract: The described embodiments provide a processor for generating a result vector that contains results from a comparison operation. During operation, the processor receives a first input vector, a second input vector, and a control vector. When subsequently generating a result vector, the processor first captures a base value from a key element position in the first input vector. For selected elements in the result vector, processor compares the base value and values from relevant elements to the left of a corresponding element in the second input vector, and writes the result into the element in the result vector. In the described embodiments, the key element position and the relevant elements can be defined by the control vector and an optional predicate vector.

26 Jul 2012TL;DR: In this paper, a system for enhancing audio including a computer and an output device is described, where the computer includes a sensor configured to determine a user location relative to the computer and the sensor is also configured to gather environment data corresponding to an environment of the computer.
Abstract: A system for enhancing audio including a computer and an output device. The computer includes a sensor configured to determine a user location relative to the computer. The sensor is also configured to gather environment data corresponding to an environment of the computer. The computer also includes a processor in communication with the sensor and configured to process the user location and the environment data and adjust at least one of an audio output or a video output. The output device is in communication with the processor and is configured to output at least one of the audio output or the video output.
