23 Mar 2010TL;DR: In this article, a user can control the animation of an object via an interface that includes a control area and a user-manipulable control element, including an arrow and two points on the circumference of the ellipse.
Abstract: A user can control the animation of an object via an interface that includes a control area and a user-manipulable control element. In one embodiment, the control area includes an ellipse, and the user-manipulable control element includes an arrow. In yet another embodiment, the control area includes an ellipse, and the user-manipulable control element includes two points on the circumference of the ellipse. In yet another embodiment, the control area includes a first rectangle, and the user-manipulable control element includes a second rectangle. In yet another embodiment, the user-manipulable control element includes two triangular regions, and the control area includes an area separating the two regions.

27 Sep 2010TL;DR: In this paper, the autocorrection engine may make word correction decisions based at least partly on information in the spoken word database, and the corrected words may be displayed in real time as the user supplies the text input.
Abstract: During operation of an electronic device such as a cellular telephone with a touch screen display or other electronic equipment, a voice recognition engine may gather data on spoken words. Data on the spoken words that are recognized may be maintained in a spoken word database maintained by an input processor with an autocorrection engine. A user may supply text input that contains mistyped words to the electronic device using the touch screen or a keyboard. The input processor may use the autocorrection engine to automatically replace mistyped words with corrected versions of the mistyped words. The corrected words may be displayed in real time as the user supplies the text input. The autocorrection engine may make word correction decisions based at least partly on information in the spoken word database.

01 Jul 1991TL;DR: A new progressive global illumination method is presented which produces approximate images quickly, and then continues to systematically produce more accurate images, combining the existing methods of progressive refinement radiosity, Monte Carlo path tracing and light ray tracing.
Abstract: A new progressive global illumination method is presented which produces approximate images quickly, and then continues to systematically produce more accurate images. The method combines the existing methods of progressive refinement radiosity, Monte Carlo path tracing and light ray tracing. The method does not place any limitation on surface properties such as ideal Lambertian or mirror-like. To increase efficiency and accuracy, the new concepts of light source reclassification, caustics reconstruction, Monte Carlo path tracing with a radiosity preprocess and an interruptible radiosity solution are introduced. The method presents the user with most useful information about the scene as early as possible by reorganizing the method into a radiosity pass, a high frequency refinement pass and a low frequency refinement pass. The implementation of the method is demonstrated, and sample images are presented.

04 Aug 2006TL;DR: In this article, systems, methods, computer-readable mediums, user interfaces and other implementations for synchronizing widgets and dashboards are described and discussed. But the authors focus on the synchronisation of widgets and not on their dashboards.
Abstract: Systems, methods, computer-readable mediums, user interfaces and other implementations are disclosed for synchronizing widgets and dashboards.

04 Mar 2014TL;DR: In this paper, a portable device with a touch screen display detects a finger-in-contact event at a first position on the touch screen and identifies a user interface object associated with the first position.
Abstract: A portable device with a touch screen display detects a finger-in-contact event at a first position on the touch screen display and identifies a user interface object associated with the first position. The portable device determines whether the identified user interface object is moveable across the touch screen display. For an identified object that is determined to be moveable across the touch screen display, the portable device detects a sequence of one or more first finger-dragging, a first finger-out-of-contact, one or more second finger-dragging, and a first finger-out-of-range events and performs a first operation associated with the identified moveable user interface object at least in part in accordance with the first and second finger-dragging events. For an identified not moveable object, the portable device detects a second finger-out-of-contact event and performs a second operation, different from the first operation in response to a second finger-out-of-contact event.
