TL;DR: In this paper, a mixture of active cleaning ingredients (acid, alkaline and enzyme) are combined with a rod micelle thickener to remove hard baked-on soils on vertical surfaces in cleaning units.
Abstract: A low viscosity aqueous cleaning composition provides increasing viscosity upon dilution which provides a high viscosity diluted cleaning composition having solvents compatible with the rod micelle thickener and the cleaning system that clings for an extended period of time in a thickened form containing cleaning system ingredients that can penetrate and remove hard baked-on soils on vertical surfaces in cleaning units. The composition contains active cleaning ingredients (acid, alkaline and enzyme) that, in combination with thickening systems, provide the useful properties. The thickened materials can be applied on cold or hot surfaces and can successfully penetrate, soften and remove baked-on food soil on a variety of surfaces including oven walls, doors and grills, baking dishes, utensils, etc. The material is applied in the form of a thick diluted liquid spray or hot foam directly to the hardened soil, is permitted to penetrate the soil, resulting softened soils are then easily removed by hot or cold water rinse or by mechanical action such as scrubbing, scraping or wiping.

TL;DR: A stable, substantially homogeneous, solid, cast fabric softening composition containing a cationic surfactant and a C 4-7 saturated dicarboxylic acid and a method of making and using the cast fabric Softening composition is presented in this article.
Abstract: A stable, substantially homogeneous, solid, cast fabric softening composition containing a cationic surfactant and a C 4-7 saturated dicarboxylic acid and a method of making and using the cast fabric softening composition. Preferably, the fabric softening composition further includes an inert diluent to aid in formulation and dispensing of the fabric softening composition to modify the melting point of the fabric softening composition, and to increase the solubility of the fabric softening composition.

TL;DR: The occurrence of a beaching behavior used by an alien and large-bodied freshwater predatory fish to capture birds on land is reported, suggesting that some individuals in introduced predator populations may adapt their behavior to forage on novel prey in new environments, leading to behavioral and trophic specialization to actively cross the water-land interface.
Abstract: The behavioral strategies developed by predators to capture and kill their prey are fascinating, notably for predators that forage for prey at, or beyond, the boundaries of their ecosystem. We report here the occurrence of a beaching behavior used by an alien and large-bodied freshwater predatory fish (Silurus glanis) to capture birds on land (i.e. pigeons, Columbia livia). Among a total of 45 beaching behaviors observed and filmed, 28% were successful in bird capture. Stable isotope analyses (δ13C and δ15N) of predators and their putative prey revealed a highly variable dietary contribution of land birds among individuals. Since this extreme behavior has not been reported in the native range of the species, our results suggest that some individuals in introduced predator populations may adapt their behavior to forage on novel prey in new environments, leading to behavioral and trophic specialization to actively cross the water-land interface.

TL;DR: In this paper, high cloud point copolymers with an effective defoamer and a water miscible diluent were used for low foaming rinse aids. But, the uniqueness of the invention relates to the fact that all components are not expected to be active as sheeting agents and are approved as food additives thereby eliminating any health concerns associated with residual deposits of the composition.
Abstract: Ethylene oxide/propylene oxide block copolymers having high cloud points, when compared to conventional rinse agent materials, have surprisingly been found to be useful in the manufacture of effective low foaming rinse aids. The rinse aids are prepared by combining the high cloud point copolymer with an effective defoamer and a water miscible diluent. The rinse aid composition can achieve adequate rinsing at common aqueous rinse temperatures at a concentration of the block copolymer in water less than 500 parts of the block copolymer per million parts of water. A liquid rinse agent concentrate can take the form of a low viscosity liquid, a thickened pourable or semi-pourable aqeous liquids. A solid rinse agent concentrate can be a cast solid material packaged within a soluble or disposable wrapper or capsule or other water soluble package. The rinse aids can be dispersed in a variety of ways by dilution with water to an aqueous final rinse composition. The uniqueness of the invention relates to the fact that all components are not expected to be active as sheeting agents and are approved as food additives thereby eliminating any health concerns associated with residual deposits of the composition on cleaned ware.

TL;DR: In this paper, a warewashing detergent composition including a cleaning agent, an alkaline source, and a corrosion inhibitor is provided according to the invention, which includes a detersive amount of a surfactant.
Abstract: A warewashing detergent composition is provided according to the invention. The warewashing detergent composition includes a cleaning agent, an alkaline source, and a corrosion inhibitor. The cleaning agent comprises a detersive amount of a surfactant. The alkaline source is provided in an amount effective to provide a use composition having a pH of at least about 8. The corrosion inhibitor includes a source of aluminum ion and a source of zinc ion. The relative amounts of the source of zinc ion and the source of aluminum ion can be controlled to reduce visible filming when the warewashing detergent composition is used in the presence of hard water. Methods for using and manufacturing a warewashing detergent composition are provided.
