TL;DR: Hardware, including noise meters, ZigBee, and GPRS, were assembled and adjusted to get traffic noise data, which would be analyzed and compiled into a database based on the categories and characteristics of the data, indicating that the Environmental IoT not only enables fast and effective acquisition of environmental data, but also enables accurate simulation and real-time network distribution.
Abstract: The Internet of Things (IoT) has many potential applications in the field of environmental monitoring. In this article, some hardware, including noise meters, ZigBee, and GPRS, were assembled and adjusted to get traffic noise data, which would be analyzed and compiled into a database based on the categories and characteristics of the data. Based on traffic noise data from 35 roads of nine green spaces in Xiamen, we used a back propagation neural network to practice net-simulation of noise data from 30 roads, while data from the remaining 5 roads were used as test data. Finally, the trained neural network was used to simulate traffic noise from 100 roads in Xiamen Island. Software systems using VB language and Flex network technology were also developed, and the simulation results were published on the Internet. The success of the method indicates that the Environmental IoT not only enables fast and effective acquisition of environmental data, but also enables accurate simulation and real-time network dist...

TL;DR: In this paper, the Bader analysis combined with the plane-averaged differential charge density results indicate that NH3 acts as the electron donor, while H2O acts as electron acceptor, leading to n-and p-type doping of WS2, respectively.
Abstract: With the aim of understanding recent experimental data concerning molecular doping in WS2-based FET gas sensors, we have investigated the interaction of NH3 and H2O molecules with monolayer WS2, by means of first-principles calculations. The structural relaxations and total energy calculations are performed to determine the preferential binding configurations and it is found that both NH3 and H2O molecules are physisorbed on monolayer WS2. The Bader analysis combined with the plane-averaged differential charge density results indicate that NH3 acts as the electron donor, while H2O acts as the electron acceptor, leading to n- and p-type doping of WS2, respectively. The charge transfer mechanism is discussed in light of the mixing of the molecular highest occupied molecular orbital and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital with the underlying WS2 orbitals. In addition, the modification of the work function is found to be almost linearly dependent on the total charge transfer. The modification of the work function and the carrier concentration can be obtained by tuning the molecule coverages, without destroying the band structure of monolayer WS2. The electrical sensitivities to the gas adsorption make WS2 a gas sensor that promises wide-ranging applications.
