TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the speed of gravitational waves within a $f(T)$ gravity is equal to the light speed, and hence, the constraints from GW170817 and GRB1708 17A are trivially satisfied.
Abstract: The combined observation of GW170817 and its electromagnetic counterpart GRB170817A reveals that gravitational waves propagate at the speed of light in high precision. We apply the standard analysis of cosmological perturbations, as well as the effective field theory approach, to investigate the experimental consequences for the theory of $f(T)$ gravity. Our analysis verifies for the first time that the speed of gravitational waves within $f(T)$ gravity is equal to the light speed, and hence, the constraints from GW170817 and GRB170817A are trivially satisfied. Nevertheless, by examining the dispersion relation and the frequency of cosmological gravitational waves, we observe a deviation from the results of general relativity, quantified by a new parameter. Although its value is relatively small in viable $f(T)$ models, its possible future measurement in advancing gravitational-wave astronomy would be the smoking gun of testing this type of modified gravity.

TL;DR: A comparison between existing state of the art multilevel inverter topologies is performed based on the criteria of output voltage quality, power circuitry complexity, and implementation cost.
Abstract: In this paper, a comparison between existing state of the art multilevel inverter topologies is performed. The topologies examined are the neutral point clamp multilevel inverter (NPCMLI) or diode-clamped multilevel inverter (DCMLI), the flying capacitor multilevel inverter (FCMLI) and the cascaded cell multilevel inverter (CCMLI). The comparison of these inverters is based on the criteria of output voltage quality (Peak value of the fundamental and dominant harmonic components and THD), power circuitry complexity, and implementation cost. The comparison results are based on theoretical results verified by detailed simulation results.

TL;DR: In this article, a multi-zone model for calculation of the closed cycle of a direct injection (DI) Diesel engine is presented and applied for the interesting case of its operation with vegetable oil (cottonseed) or its derived bio-diesel (methyl ester) as fuels, which recently are considered as promising alternatives (bio-fuels) to petroleum distillates.

TL;DR: This paper presents a systematic approach to extracting expression related features from image sequences and inferring an emotional state via an intelligent rule-based system.
Abstract: Facial expression and hand gesture analysis plays a fundamental part in emotionally rich man-machine interaction (MMI) systems, since it employs universally accepted non-verbal cues to estimate the users' emotional state. In this paper, we present a systematic approach to extracting expression related features from image sequences and inferring an emotional state via an intelligent rule-based system. MMI systems can benefit from these concepts by adapting their functionality and presentation with respect to user reactions or by employing agent-based interfaces to deal with specific emotional states, such as frustration or anger.
