27 Feb 2014TL;DR: In this article, a persistency free management of media storage including, during routine operation: continuously receiving streams of data; storing the streams in corresponding files in a non-volatile storage; including in the files a tag indicating whether the file is categorized as active or inactive; and when recovering from a crash: generating a list of active files by scanning the files and identifying active files.
Abstract: System and method for persistency free management of media storage including, during routine operation: continuously receiving streams of data; storing the streams of data in corresponding files in a non-volatile storage; including in the files a tag indicating whether the file is categorized as active or inactive; and when recovering from a crash: generating a list of active files by scanning the files and identifying active files. System and method for recovering after controller crash may include: during routine operation: continuously handling by the controller processes related to media metadata, by sending commands to a controlled device; sending state parameters related to the processes to the controlled device; and when recovering from the crash: retrieving the state parameters from the controlled device.

23 Jun 2013TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a method for managing video storages that includes periodically receiving parameters indicative of a level of performance of video storage units and detecting up-down states of the video storage unit upon receiving an instruction to record video data.
Abstract: Some embodiments of the present invention refer to an apparatus and method for managing video storages. The method may include periodically receiving parameters indicative of a level of performance of video storage units and detecting up-down states of the video storage units upon receipt of an instruction to record video data. The method may further include detecting writing rates and reading rates of video data associated with the storage units and selecting one of the video storage units to record the video data, based on the parameters received, the detected up-down states, the detected writing rates and the detected reading rates.

12 Feb 2003TL;DR: In this paper, a system and method for recording and/or monitoring data by forwarding it, with or without analyzing or otherwise filtering the data itself, is presented over IP networks.
Abstract: A system and method for recording and/or monitoring data by forwarding it, with or without analyzing or otherwise filtering the data itself. According to preferred embodiments of the present invention, the system and method are operative over IP networks. According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, there is provided a system and method for forwarding data according to at least one characteristic of the data, such as the session's metadata for example, without analyzing or otherwise filtering the data itself. According to another preferred embodiment of the present invention, before the data is forwarded to the recording device, pre-processing algorithms are performed according to a system preset or according to one or more rules.

16 Sep 2001TL;DR: In this paper, a method and a system for monitoring a computer network to detect data packets including audio or video data, such packets being part of a communication session, for storing these packets and for reconstructing the communication session upon request.
Abstract: A method and a system for monitoring a computer network to detect data packets including audio or video data, such packets being part of a communication session, for storing these packets and for reconstructing the communication session upon request. To enable the system to store packets independently of the protocol used to set up the communication session, for example in a Voice over IP environment, the system includes a link to the gatekeeper of the computer network.
